I think Ole will walk once the fans start to turn as he seems self aware enough to know when the time is right to go. That will ensure his legacy isn’t too damaged and get him another job after.

it's also not a binary choice between being fired with a good payoff and walking away for free...no way he will give up a £25m payoff (well done to the board on that new 3-year contract), but he could certainly proactively approach them and look to reach some sort of compromise.

but you'd think he realises he's not up to the job by now, if he didn't know it right from the start.

For sure. I feel the pressure on the guy didn’t exist for the first couple of seasons but now the likes of Ronaldo and Varane have been signed he must realise he actually has to coach these players and deliver rather than vague promises of progress. He seems well liked by the upstairs guys I like Jose and LVG so as you say, he might ‘leave by mutual consent’ and get some sort of golden handshake with a promise to not go and work for City or Liverpool

Surely the best time is before you play Dr Tottenham? You don't want to be given any medicine that will keep Ole alive for the next few games after that.
