Liverpool don't have a midfield.

--------------DDG
Taa Maguire VVD Shaw
Mctominay-----Fred
---------Bruno----
Salah--Ronaldo--Rashford
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fabinho? Best in the world in that position.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kante is far better but each to their own. Does he now finally play for brazil ahead of Fernandinho?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No he doesn’t
----------------------------------------------------------------------
am I wrong to say only liverpool fans say Fabinho is the nest DM because I have never heard any other fans or pundits say it.

Lets forget Brazil , Casemiro is the captain and he is a good player but how come he is NEVER selected in the UEFA Team of the year or the short list for Balon d'or?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool fans rate him highly and we see the impact it has on the team when he doesn't play. But I suspect it's a pretty small minority who think he's the best DCM in the world.

My personal pick for that would be Kimmich but Kante wouldn't be far off him.

Either way, not picking him for a Liverpool/Utd mash up is insane.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thing is I actually think talent wise he can easily be the best. We saw defensively last season how good he was at CB.

Maybe his form has dipped a bit but there is a bot of lazyness to his game. Maybe I am overstating his weaknesses.

By the way I believe Fabinho is a very talented player and in the past some comparisons have been made to Patrick Vieira with his gangly legs and his good range of passing but his biggest weakness is his inconsistency and lack of interest in other games.

He can definitely be the best but something missing in his game and its hard to tell what. He is 3rd choice for Brazil behind Fred. Thats shocking in my opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So the fact he can’t get a game before Fred surely suggests there’s something wrong with the Brazilian selection process?

Also, the most shocking thing about all this is you actually using Fred as part of your reasoning. Go outside and headbut a brick wall for an hour.

Not sure about easily, not considering the quality of others in his position. But he does have a lot of qualities you'd look for.

I don't think he's a lazy player at all. His positioning and reading of the game is absolutely superb so it can often look like he's not putting in huge effort but just happens to be where he needs to be. It's that ability which allows him to play CB as well imo.

As a pure defensive midfielder he's up there but others (the likes of Kimmich and Kante) offer more in terms of all around contribution. He's capable of playing incisive passes and I'd like to see it a bit more but he can be a little 'safe'. Perhaps he's told to play that way.

I'd say it suggests they play different positions. You wouldn't play both Casemiro and Fabinho, so you have to chose one. Fred is irrelevant. You wouldn't play Fred in Fabinho's position. Also Fabinho is fairly new to the Brazil set up as a defensive midfielder considering he mostly played right back until he joined Liverpool.

Fabinho and Kante are completely different players playing the same position, hence why some of Kante's managers use him further forward. Fabinho is better defensively, strength, heading etc but Kante is much quicker at getting to players and better when on the ball turning defence into attack. Casemiro is similar to Fabinho in many ways. It would come down to personal preference as they're both top players. Difficult to choose between the three but I'd go for Kante myself.

Also whilst Kimmich is good defensively, I wouldn't class him as a defensive midfielder per se. He's more of a deep laying midfielder, like Alonso was.

Rose tinted glasses

We are all guilty of it but he’s not better than the two players mentioned he’s just not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So there's only two players arguably better than him. Sounds like he's in the conversation. Not too absurd to call him the best.

Biggest problem for utd is the consistent belief by some that pogba is any good.

The day he goes utd improve massively. His attitude stinks and he will always let utd down when really needed

I heard he's actually quite likable, however his attitude on the pitch is terrible.
