Are you taking the piiiiiss?
How do you think they determine which leagues are granted entry into pot one as champions?
And that’s without even talking about all the other pots in the CL, Europa, ECL and their qualifiers.
What would be the point of doing one for domestic competition? So insecure City fans can tell us something we already know?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am taking the piiisss.
Terminator decided to make a toatlly irrelevent point so I went along with it because Liverpool are absymal when it come to domestic competitions.
You should be glad City are doing well in the table, that's why we're still allowed to enter 4 teams.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It wasn’t irrelevant at all. I was pointing out how deceptive stats can be. City are rated the second best team in Europe without winning the trophy the ratings are based on.
Your insecurity led you to make the utterly pointless point that you did. And now you’re playing the old ‘just joking’ card.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That isn’t deceptive either though, that’s just you choosing to get a dig in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or you’re being overly sensitive. I think it’s a valid point, it shows how consistent City are, but until you win it then it’s something of a false position.

Why? Surely first would be the only false position? We even finished second in the CL last season, it is exactly our current position.
That’s not even considering that it’s a coefficient so it’s consistency that matters.

Quite clear where the insecurity is by the fact you mentioned it.
You could win the F1 Championship without winning a single race and you really would have to be the best and most consistent driver to do that.

It’s not a false position as its function is to rank consistency. The false positions come from teams that are doing well in the Europa.

Presumably UEFA just pump out these stats just to feed their betting sponsor partners the odds.

Being the most consistent doesn’t necessarily make you the best though.
And why does me bringing up my point make me insecure? You’re not making any sense whatsoever. You’re the one that wants to being in the system to the domestic cups just to make City look better. That’s the real insecurity….

Yeah, that’s daft. They should have separate tables for each competition.

The argument is that there should be some reward for performing in Europe, even if it’s in the lesser competitions. It’s not the worst idea if you consider a team doing well in Europa compared to someone in the CL is still at a disadvantage given the disparity in money between participating in the two competitions. But the problem lies in teams dropping down a competition. We got more points for getting to the Europa final than PSG did for getting to the CL semis.
It’ll be imperfect however it’s done, but the biggest issue is spanning it over five years, it should be over three. It gives a better reflection of recent performances and would be a fairer way of rewarding teams.

Can remember us having a conversation about this a few years ago and us both saying that. Five years is too long.

I get why it won’t happen, but it’s what should be done to create a bit more competition. It wouldn’t even necessarily be at the very top anyway, more so further down the rung - particularly with regard to leagues being able to gain more European spots, or a later entry into the competition.
