EVERY season

How many times have we seen this? Every single season when we make wholesale changes, we lose and then we do it again? The pundits are always surprised at the performance, but we're not.

How do we strike the right balance to compete on more fronts? Why don't we ever learn?

I would be amazed if you could find a single person , including Nuno, who expected us to win. We had to field a side so we rightly took a complete second string. It’s the group stages not the knockouts. Win home games and you go through.

Roma lost 6-1 to a more random team than Vitesse

Need to try and chill over this one, same problems yes but this is Tottenham. Next 3 games will determine whether we go through the group, all winnable with two home games and easiest side away from home. Think the bigger players will be playing some minutes in the home ties.

I couldn’t care less. I have zero interest in us winning this comp. I don’t get this attitude of fans desperately trying to win the most meaningless cup just to say we’ve won something. No one gives a toss about this and if we weren’t in it we’d be rightly ridiculing anyone that was. It’s a great opportunity for our fringe players to get a run out while our first team can concentrate on trying to get us back to where we actually want to be. We’re better than this FFS.

The Europa is a whole step above this competition. In my opinion we should not take it seriously until the quarter finals.

I hope Nuno plays the same team next week away to Burnley. After most of them having 90 minutes under their belt they will be better for it.

I would probably drop Scarlett and start with Kane or Son. Let both of them share the 90mins. Maybe drop Gil too for Moura too and bring him on later.

You probably (and many others did) say the same about the europa so don't come giving that crap. Also "win home games and you go through"...mate you either cannot read, cannot remember or can't be bothered to do your own research but as numerous people have pointed out, if we come second then we have to play an extra game. Another game which you will be getting a hard on about us sending out another weakened team to go and get knocked out from

It’s not arrogance at all, far from it. Why are you all pretending this is the best competition in the world? If we’d put our full squad out we’d have won but it might have cost us a result this weekend. We should be aiming for the top. How is that arrogance? We don’t have the squad to compete on all levels so let’s concentrate on the best ones and see what happens. I’d rather fail trying! How is that so difficult to understand? Or shall we just go for the low hanging fruit and pretend that makes everything ok?

In my opinion thats flawed logic. Fail trying would be to have gone for it today (which would still not have required a full team, just maybe 5 changes) and the weekend, instead of throwing today. I guess we see "trying" differently.

Yep we could have gone strong tonight and Sunday and then sacked off the league cup next week. It needs to be weakest team possible against Burnley as that come is a waste of time for us as we won’t beat a Chelsea, City or Liverpool.

I get that (I'd a few beers last night) but the reality is we don't have the squad to compete on all these fronts. If we're going to take a gamble on a game, with one eye on protecting the squad, last night was it. And it was 100% worth taking that risk.

It has highlighted some clear issues with some of our players but them getting a run out together is more important that that crappy competition. IMO. And as others have said, we're still in it anyway.

Now the key is not to screw up on Sunday!

That cup you're in honestly isn't worth the effort. It's a shame for you that your reserves failed to shine but that doesn't mean playing them was wrong in itself
