A lot has been made about how Lukaku will apparently fire Chelsea to the title, yet for me he doesn’t score the right type of goals for this ever to be possible. To make this easier and also showcase how confident I am in our title chances, I thought I would split goalscorers up into three different tiers.
Definitions are below:
Tier 1 - A goalscorer of the highest order. The big man for the big occasion, if you like
Tier 2 - A goalscorer who gets his fair share, but not necessarily important goals. The type of guy who bags the 3rd in a 3-0 win.
Tier 3 - A goalscorer who, contrary to his position, can contribute massive goals. Think of someone like Vidic or John Terry.
If you look at our title rivals, it is clear and obvious that we possess the more T1 and T3 goalscorers. To be impartial I will assess each rival and which of their players fit the appropriate categories below.
Chelsea:
Lukaku Tier 2
Havertz Tier 3 (this is due to him not having a nailed on position)
Liverpool:
Salah Tier 1
Mane Tier 2
Man City:
Dias Tier 3
Man United:
Ronaldo Tier 1
Rashford Tier 1
Cavani Tier 1
Bruno Tier 1
Greenwood Tier 1
Maguire Tier 3
Pogba Tier 3
Shaw Tier 3
If you look at it impartially, Lukaku doesn’t score enough Tier 1 goals to fire Chelsea to the league. He was always a T2 striker, right back to when he was banging them in for Everton. Our firepower is why I am so confident we can get the league won, once we get Varane back and fully fit we will be a different beast. Starting Sunday with the scousers, I feel like we are about to take off onto a long typical Ole run that will see us surprise people.

I never was super confident. We don't play well at Old Trafford and United will sit back and try and hurt us on the counter. So I certainly won't be shocked if you win. You definitely won't finish above us though
