Before you all start with your 'pleasing' and 'smirk' comments - have a bit of a decency.
For me - what an awful performance. They need to hang their collective heads in shame.
That was a game that you had to win for the Big Man and you didn't rock up at all.
Don't blame the pressure - they are highly paid professionals.
Honestly man - Gerrard better be absolutely thrashing them in that dressing room.
Embarrassing

I agree with saying Goldson has been a problem this year, but not Tav. Tav’s not at his best but still making an impact.
But my issue this year is with the midfield they just don’t seem to be in right shape defensively. Always getting caught with players breaking behind them, leaving them scrambling to get back or diving in. But they also don’t seem to be getting up to speed with the forwards. They seem to far away from them.
Aribo seems to be only player that’s really been having an impact, getting close enough to forwards and linking with them. Last year felt Kamara and Davis we’re helping more here, and think Kent was great at dropping deep and being direct, too slow this year for me.

I might be in a minority and I like Patterson, but Tavernier is a level above him. He's in a slump for form but I think if both were firing I'd want Tav every time

Agree.
Think now is the time to play both through, we are missing a runner from the front 3. Tav would be the one for me to play there, scores goals and with Patterson overlapping could be a strong solution for us.
Worth trying until Kent is back imo.
On the Itten situation, its a clinical goal scorer we've lacked not a target man. I wonder if Steven Gerrard remembers a wee guy called Jermain....

Good point to be fair, forgot about him, Defoe would’ve bagged a couple against Hearts I’m sure

Defoe is injured I think otherwise I think he would be more involved. I don't necessarily think it's that we're not taking chances (Hearts game aside) and more issues with creating them.
We have become a bit predictable and last night I don't think we created anything from open play. Our entire game plan is to try and get it wide to the full backs but teams have started to counter that.
In fairness to Gerrard I thought his post game interview was good and he clearly understands some of the issues. I'd be more concerned if he was deluded and coming out saying we were playing well, creating loads of chances and he was happy. The only issue is whether he can do much about it immediately.
Having said that despite our form we're still top of the league after the first round of games and well in all competitions so it's not at crisis levels.

Agree with all that. Last night is the worst I have seen us out of possession under Gerrard. First half Aberdeen pulled us all over the park without doing anything particularly inventive or moving the ball at pace. There were so many gaps between players and it looked like a group who were trying to adapt to a new system under a new Manager rather than operating that way or 4 years. Gerrard touched on that in his post match interview as well so clearly spotted it. Jack might make a difference to that but our shape out of possession just now is poor.

For some (many?) reasons we have completely stopped playing with the intensity and our own game plan at the levels we've previously proved we can do
