New points sanction confirmed

https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2021/11/efl-statement-derby-county-16th-november-2021

9 point deduction applied immediately with 3 suspended. Appeal against 12 points withdrawn. No further appeals or sanctions.

In the Appendix of the EFL judgement the allowed budget is detailed for the remainder of this season. Salary must not exceed 15.775 million pounds. No more than 25 players at any one time, players being defined as any who have started 3 or more games at Championship or Premiership level at any point in their career. No transfer or loan fees allowed.

So that is this season gone. Presumably we could still sign out of contract players up to the allowed 25 squad maximum provided the total wage bill is not exceeded. Surely though it will now be all about preparing for next season in League 1. That means identifying those players already at the club who will still be here next season and who are or might be good enough, and giving them match experience now, accepting we are going to get royally turned over in many games.

I hope Rooney stays and that the next announcement is of a new and stable ownership with a long-term plan. Assuming Rooney DOES stay he needs to clear out as many as possible of the players who won't be here next season and start to build the basis of a team that can compete in League 1.

Have to admit I have been pleasantly surprised by the reaction of other fans. Could so easily have been a pile-on. In fact folks have been generally sympathetic or supportive with just a touch of schadenfreude here and there.

Heart warming really but don't suppose it will last!

Continue to hope

"However, Nottinghamshire Live have revealed how the club, through owner Evangelos Marinakis, made it clear that they have no real concerns about facing punishment from the EFL because of FFP.

“The owners remain committed to the long term future of the club and its funding.

“The board views remaining within the discipline of the EFL’s Profitability and Sustainability rules to be a high priority and has shown that it has the discipline to take tough decisions regarding player sales in order to ensure compliance notwithstanding substantial investment in the playing squad.

“The level of losses sustained by the club are within those provided for by the by the rules, and the club will control losses in future years in order to ensure continuing compliance with the rules.”

I hope this is true Stan. We were told something similar by our owner a while back.

The Forest owner also denies he is a gangster involved with drug smuggling.

Re Forest and Cardiff, Rev - no I don't wish. I would not wish points deductions on anyone. It is simply that I have heard talk about the respective financial positions of those two clubs over a period of years. There could well be others in trouble. Are you convinced Forest will be OK re FFP?

Chicago, all us supporters can only really go on what we’re fed by our respective Clubs

Forest in the past as been under sanctions by the EFL fire breaking certain rules, so I would hope we’ve learned our lesson, we’re told that we’re complying with the rules and working within the parameters, so I would hope that’s true and that we’re going OK

However, I know you lot were told similar stuff, and look where you’ve ended up

So who knows?

And just for the record, I think the way the EFL conduct their business is a total scam and outrageously unfair - teams coming then from the PL with £100M in parachute payments over 3 years is ridiculously unfair

The whole setup just stinks

The thing is for the last few seasons whenever it has looked like FFP might be an issuefor Forest we have raised cash by selling our best players and avoided it.

We could get in excess of £10 millione for Worrall or Johnson if necessary. We have one or two others who could bring in decent fees.

I do expect us to sell one of our stars either in January or in the summer to finance Steve Coopers rebuilding plans.

In other news I see Derby and associated companies owe HMRC £29 million. With this in mind what would be the asking price icluding paying off all debts if the a buyer could be found. If a buyer cant be found would HMRC ask the courrts for a winding up order.

To be honest I think there is a lot worse still to come for Derby's supporters.

As an aside I’d love to know why schadenfreude has made its way into the English vocabulary nowadays.
I think most people have to look it up and when you find out it means malicious pleasure you think why didn’t they just say that, I wouldn’t have needed to look it up.
It’s almost as infuriating as Spart dropping cognitive dissonance on us a couple of years back.

According to the Statement of Affairs just released, we owe Middlesbrough £566.44.

Maybe that’s what Gibson is so upset about …

I think that you are basing your valuation of Worrall on that he supports the club he plays for.
I don't rate as highly as yourself, obviously. IMHO he's an average Championship defender. Not worth £10m.

You can't blame the EFL for any of this, the fault lies with only one person, the chancer who gambled with the club because he had no one to keep his ego in check.
