A first visit for Bolton to edgeley park since January 2002 as a result of the 2-2 at the unibol a week last Sunday. A big test against an upwardly mobile non league side and Bolton will have to be at their best to earn a 2nd round tie at Rotherham. The feel good factor is back however after beating Crewe on Friday night and the nostalgia fest on Sunday. Team news. Out Jones, tutte, probably Doyle and Brockbank. A big plus both Amaechi and Bakayoko are fitso at least a bit of fire power tonight. Kick off 7.45 and on bbc2 hd even and it's live.

The squad simply isn't good enough. Can't replace Doyle, Jones, Williams. That's the best we have on the bench, delfounso, gordon, Aimson so poor. Letting off Amaechi a bit as he's not fully fit. At least saved going out at Rotherham.

Indeed. We knew striker looked a possible problem area and it's turned out that way. Can't expect Dapo to come up with a moment of genius every game, someone needs to step up and take some of that responsibility as well.
I don't see us going down (touch wood) and I live Evatt's mentality of being as ambitious as possible, but he needs to be a bit more pragmatic at times. Big Sam's football wasn't always as entertaining as Evatt's but when you're a newly promoted side there is something to be said for the mentality of "you start every game with a point".
Anyway, learn the lessons lessons and then bin tonight off and on to the weekend. Early start tomorrow so that's it for me.

You might prefer the full match on the BBC iPlayer to work out how many questions it raises for IE.
If all the work for the January shopping is based on tippy tappy at the back wearing teams down before finishing them off, we may need a few more shopping lists.

I thought we were a lot more direct than we normally are. Also a lot of aimless punts either by way of clearances or just poinless hoofing didn't help us retain the ball as usual.
Went through the motions in extra time which is what cost us.

There is a real problem with all the passing back to the keeper and other defenders. When you have quick opposition players, it puts the keeper and the defence under pressure. That was evident on several occasions last night. Unless you have quality players who have the ball skills to cope with it, you are on a loser. The problem for us is we don't have the right quality of players.
As for wearing down the opposition, it certainly didn't work last night.
Evatt needs to make good assessments on several players before the January window opens and take a considered look at his tactics.
As has been mentioned already, we know he has work to do with the forwards. On last nights showing. there are too many problems to be solved in January. I don't think Evatt will change his style of play, not even as a plan B.

illness, injury and then there's the laundry which could well leave us with just square pegs to plug various shaped holes for the trip to Wycombe.
Wasn't November supposed to give us some respite, wins and points after a hard October.
Life is hard being a Wanderer.

All we can hope for is that after last weekend and all the goodwill, the happy feeling of being part of something good, and the extra minutes on the pitch on Sunday, sapped the team of a killer touch. Too much goodwill must have been running through their hearts and brains.
Hopefully, that will have disappeared on Saturday and they will be ready to go. Is a win on the cards? Right now I would settle for a draw.

You know the clock on this 24hr bug going around the club will have stopped to make a game of it for the bug.
We might be wise using an open top bus for the trip down South to try to stop it spreading.

After reading Ian Evatt's latest assessment of our chances today, I would say even a draw isn't on the cards.
He says that he doesn't even know if he will have eleven players. Saying that we are supposed to have two players for every position, what has gone wrong?
Depending on the weather I could be working again with my son so that might provide some respite after Wednesday nights debacle.
It's not a game that fills me with confidence and talking about confidence the way he is talking will not give the squad, which must be feeling pretty low, much of an uplift.
