This unbeaten run was always going to end at this fixture. Granted I'd rather they'd kept it to one or two instead of gifting extras but there ya go. Not too bothered as I expected to lose this one. My only concern over this result is that Arteta might use it as an excuse to revert back to Aretaball.
This season isn't about us beating Pool, City or Chelsea, certainly not in this half of it, we're not there yet. For now it's about us and the other 16 teams, get enough wins out of those fixtures and we're good for CL next season. Before we can return to challenging, we have to return to being flat track bullies vs all but the top 4/5 teams.
So long as Arteta doesn't go back to his hideous vision of football, that's exactly what should happen. Good chance we'll get points off Pool, City or Chelsea second half of the season too. So given the point we're at as a squad, the fixture we had today and the 7 unbeaten which came before it. Other than some mild irritation about certain individual mistakes, there's nothing to get even mildly upset about.

Agree with most of that but just frustrated we didn't see enough from the front players. If we do any business in January we must get a long term striker option who can hold the ball up. I've always been a supporter of Aubameyang but in this sort of game someone up front who can hold the ball up while the rest of the team gets up the field is like gold dust and we just don't have that option at the moment.

Agree we need someone but today was Arteta and his selection. He should have left Auba on the bench and started Martinelli.
Also though we had to be cautious going to Anfield, we didn't have to be/shouldn't have been that cautious. It's difficult for all but the stereotype target donkey to hold the ball up THAT and this team has to play on the front foot until the defence is a lot more than 8 games solid.
Maybe this time next season we can hope to just sit and absorb Pool at Anfield playing out from the back but right now, hell no and even attempting it was suicidal on Arteta's part. That said though, Aubamayeng has to carry the can for today. It all fell apart after he gave TAA and Anfield a gift wrapped (with pwerty bows) goal. All fell apart from there.

They are for now. They still need the extra time a high press affords them.
The LB has been brilliant up until today so not sure what's gone on there. But previous appearances buy him benefit of the doubt for his "Bellerin but left side" showing today. He was never going to be keeping Tierney out long term anyway.

We know we have a long way to go to match the top sides but being positive , good first half and another outstanding display from Ramsdale, it would have been far worse but for some great stops

Tierney cant be fully ready yet otherwise he would have started or at least come on to plug the left side

The real test this match was how close we could keep it. Our unbeaten run against mainly bottom third of the table doesnt count for much now.

We were okay in the first half. They didnt create too much. After we were 1 down we havent got an answer to bother them, to urge them to make mistake in their defense. We need more firepower upfront.

We’re just not at their level, Liverpool are capable of battering better teams than us on their day. Ultimately our attack isn’t good enough yet to be able create chances and be ruthless in games like this. The defence did alright first have, but felt we’d only ever score if we got lucky or from a set play. So us just relying on defensive would have at best got a draw or a narrow defeat. We need more from midfield and forwards to begin to be in with a chance of beating these teams. The lack of experience showed from Arteta and the team when we went 1 down, everyone lost their composure and Liverpool took full advantage, it was disappointing but hopefully we learn from that
