I think he is a some player to have in the 1st team and I hope he doesn't lose his place against Newcastle next week. I feel like he was the only player who trying something even though it might not come off and people see that as an error.
Yes, he made some mistakes in the game like the Jota goal, but his teammates were scarred to ask for the ball when they went down one-nil and that led to being sluggish to receive the ball more. Everyone wanted not to be the one making the mistake.
I remember one time the ball went for a throw and Tavares picked up no Arsenal player was to be seen who want to receive the ball from him and he smiled with a shock on the touchline.
What I like about him he's as fighter as Tierney, but he's more of physical player as he wins more duals than Tierney because he's taller and takes more players on. In addition, he releases the ball quicker to our forwards more which can led to us scoring more goals.

Looked great up until Sat. But then up until Sat, we'd not really seen how he handles us being under the kosh. It's all well and good when we're all over the opposition and he can maraud. But Sat he looked like although he can chase back and tackle well, he's got no real sense of when to try a ting and when not to.
I still think he's quality but for a final verdict I need to see more of him in games against teams where we have to be cautious. We know he's a great attacking WB but can he where necessary keep his ass in our half, not try anything cute, just keep it simple and defend.

I think someone took away his music

He is awful. Good runner but no brain. Will not last at Arsenal. We need Tierney back in the starting line up

He's a work in progress.
Will be decent long term but don't fancy him to shift Tierney.

I think Tavares has a great future - but he has to learn to be far more precise and less risky in his passing when not in the final third - he made a catalogue of errors which could have resulted in conceding more than the one Liverpool goal that he was largely responsible for.

Casting him off because of one bad performance against a team that is light years ahead of us, have won the Premier League, have won the Champions League is just a ridiculous overreaction.
It's way too soon to judge whether he will make it long term. Overall, the early signs have been very good actually.
This level of game came way too soon for him in an Arsenal shirt and Tierney should have started, I wanted Tierney to start because I feared this game would be too much for Tavares' level of experience.
He has all the attributes, brain farts can be eradicated from his game with the right coaching, he's still young enough for that to happen.
Also, it didn't help him that he was one of few trying to make something happen and break the lines and every other Arsenal player was stood around him like penguins in permafrost and not moving as they should have been to offer him the pass he would be expecting.

I think he will eventually turn into a wing back/winger.
He comes with a rep of not being the best defensively but I think there is a lot of potential in him transforming into an attacking player

He's the backup and was always going to be. Yeah he's done great in KT's absence but he's got a long way to go to be better.
Away at Anfield is not really a "rushed back at 85% fitness" fixture. Especially not when said players replacement is having the form run Tavares was up until Sat. And not with the way Tierney like to get stuck in.
Arteta reinjured Partey last season rushing him back into a big game, I'm glad he never made the same mistake with KT this one.

Very good young player and he has been great over the last few weeks. I still think he is a long way off getting in front of Tierney longer term though. This type of game against a team the level of Liverpool unfortunately probably came to soon for him. In hindsight easy to say he shouldn't have started but taking him out of the starting 11 would have been extremely harsh.
Great to finally have more than solid backup though, considering with the amount of games Tierney will inevitably miss throughout the season.

A more experienced manager would have recognised this was a step too far for him due to the level up and taken him out of the firing line to protect him.
Arteta still has a hell of a lot to learn.
