MvG??? Won about 1 floor tournament all year. Nowhere near in the form to win this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
His form picked up in the last few weeks, and with the crowds back he would have lifted it another level imo. The main reason for MvG's dip was the lack of crowds (plus he's got kids now).
Also, apart from maybe Clayton, no other player won a lot this year. It wasn't like there was a dominant player that you thought could beat MvG if MvG was playing well.
Price, Wright, Clayton, Smith, Lewis etc. all play very similar 100-average darts at their best - not enough to compete with MvG on top form. The only ones who could complete would be Anderson and Rob Cross but they'd have to play lights out.

And still MvG won fack all bar a PC.

Which he is nowhere near. The 3 dart average is only part of the game.

2 weeks before the World's MvG got knocked out in the quarters of the PC finals 10-6 by Peter Wright. In front of a crowd. Allegedly with his form having picked up.
Wright would have beaten him here too, if needed.
