Barca demise

So, as we all know, Barca, once great club, is down into the Europa for the first time in ages, with it appears minimal chance of getting anywhere near the CL, unless they go on to win the Europa.

They have, quite rightly received a fair amount of criticism and gloating, with the popular view being they deserve all they get for abusing FFP for years, and literally running themselves into financial oblivion.

I personally have no real opinion about Barca, as they don't remotely effect Spurs who, whilst have played them on odd occasion, move in entirely different circles for the majority of time.

I do though, have absolutely no sympathy for clubs that clearly abuse FFP, and as we all know, clearly 'buy' their success, whilst all the time have the wonderful media fawn over them, as if they are winning cups based on pure skill and good coaching, compared with their less fortunate rivals.

So, to my main point. Does the situation with Barca change anyone's opinion about Levy and his prudence, some might say down right stinginess ?

I don't know the exact figures, but I read the other day that, of all the recognised 'big clubs' Spurs are the furthest away from their FFP limit than any of the others.

Spurs also, as we all know, has the smallest wage bill of the 'big 6' by some margin.

Clearly, taking account of the ongoing stadium revenue assuming no further total lock downs, and hopefully progression back into the CL sooner rather than later with Conte's influence ( and reasonably financial backing ) will we now see Levy's prudence start to pay off, and other big clubs start to go down the Barca route through over spending ?

Oh are we not getting into Wolves' revenue, debt, and cash flow? That's a shame. Their financial statements are fun.

Barca are just unfortunate the government won't bail them out like they would Real Madrid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Real Madrid famously profited from a re-zoning deal to develop their old training grounds, which due to the expansion of the city had become prime real estate because they were right on the edge of Madrid business district. The deal was actually approved after lengthy discussions in the democratically-elected regional parliament, thanks to the support of the far-left Izquierda Unida party.

Many years earlier, Barcelona also benefitted from a rezoning deal that allowed them to build the Camp Nou on grounds that were not formerly authorised for such purposes. You know who signed off on that deal? Franco himself.

Funny old world, hey?
