Coming back from a debilitating virus...

That was an out-of-this-world performance, effort, shift from Cal Hudson-Odoi to last the match (had to)! Bearing in mind Villa had almost two weeks to recover and prepare for this match.
Ran himself into the ground, which is risky (maybe contributed to the missed big-chance in the closing stages but at least it was on target...I've witnessed MANY experienced seniors at the club fail to even hit the target testing the keeper in that type of position).

Big hit on THAT achilles from Cash' untimely tackle, pleased he was able to absorb and withstand it.

The worst part is had the injuries never occured, Tuchel would have subbed him off for Lukaku on the hour mark which would have been a monumental error.
Very few in the league understands striker movements to the same standard and requirement as Cal.
Hence why the link-up with whichever striker he plays alongside instantaneously clicks...whether it be Lukaku, Tammy, Kai, Girooo, even Morata previously.
Cal always has and always will be the absolute top-tier at forging partnerships.

No-one possesses his unique natural smarts or skill-set...in terms of creating seperation, quick speed of thought creating shot actions in final third, carrying possession into the box, prodigious passing range, perfect weight of passing switching play through the lines and the very much improved off the ball movements constantly getting himself into goalscoring positions...Just a problematic nightmare to play against either side of the pitch, mainly on the left or middle where his angle of attacks are more varied.

That one motion move to head the ball to himself and play a lovely volleyed pass through to Lukaku for the third goal was marvellous! Frightening technical quality which very few in Europe can match (certainly none of the regular attackers in our squad, bar perhaps Kai/Mount)...on the big bucks and highly coveted for a very good reason. Complete.

Cal back starting in the forward position where he was playing well and during his first extended run in that role clearly our best performing forward (which comes as no surprise to any one with a 🧠) we score 3, no coincidence. Cal largely involved in all of the goals.
We don't score 3 or create from open play without him, as already evidenced when he was bizzarely benched 5 matches for non-footballing/meritocratic reasons. Utterly dire without the big-game players open play contributions in the side.
The chasm in quality/capacity between him and the other attackers (Pulisic, Ziyech, and especially Werner) who have consistently had the platform to play the left side or in the middle is huge. Levels ahead of them.

Anyway there is still plenty of strings to his bow which have yet to be explored. Finishing will click, when he continues to start and last matches regularly.
With that assist yesterday Hudson-Odoi became the youngest ever Chelsea player to reach double figure assists in the PL, overtaking a certain Arjen Robben. (This should have been reached a while ago with his outrageous playmaking output from day one, but the injury and having to rely on others finishing for this milestone is the issue.
Didn't help that he was grossly mismanaged by the manager at the time in his debut season pre-Achilles injury either, never made his full PL debut until the later stages of 18/19 which was scandulous given the vast underperformance of players ahead of him and the form he was in).

Creative fulcrum Cal in the side, possible title-charge is on. The super-glue in attack.
No dimwitted, thick-as-mince sheep (with useless viewpoints, agenda or vendetta) on here will tell me otherwise
