A few thoughts from yesterdays game…
1. The commentators thought Salisu’s first yellow was harsh. His first yellow was down to an accumulation of fouls, I actually thought he should have received a yellow earlier for plowing into Dele two or 3 times.
2. I’ve seen some of our fans say we didn’t do enough to win.
We put the ball in the back of the net four times and imo, only the Davies disallowed goal was the correct call.
We had 21 shots yesterday (Soton 9), 11 on target (2), 7 corners (3) and 65% possession.
We did enough to win, including putting the ball in the back of the net.
9 times out of 10 we take all 3 points.
3. That said, a draw might not be the worst thing in the World. Another win and our players may have started to think the job is done. This result serves as a speed bump and will allow players to re-focus. I trust Conte with this. He will also know he needs re-enforcement and I hope Levy will back him in January, especially with a place in the CL still in our own hands.
4. Harry Winks. I thought he was good yesterday. Sadly, a certain % of fans seem to scapegoat and Winks falls within this category. He took some stick on the match thread and I’ve since seen comments saying he should have been replaced by Ndombele and that he was awful in the first half.
Our whole team was overran in the first half, not just Winks.
Winks and PEH were playing against a 3 man Southampton midfield.
Winks played Son through for the pen and red card.
Winks played Kane through for his disallowed goal.
Winks played Doherty in for a fantastic opportunity that Matt couldn’t convert.
Winks also looped the ball in for Doherty’s disallowed goal.
He had 92% pass accuracy yesterday with 95 touches of the ball.
I’m not sure what else he has to do for certain fans to put a bit of respect on his name?

I'm concerned a few fans think Winks was our best player yesturday. All because he played a couple of through balls 🤷♂️

So am I, when Southampton had 11 he was getting bullied out of the game and he didn't do anything like enough creatively when they had 10.

He was playing in a midfield 2 v 3.
We were totally overran as a team in the first half.
What he did do though, was send Son clear = penalty and red card.

Then Son should get the credit not Winks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Son gets credit for the incident as well. It doesn’t have to be one or the other, unless you have an agenda against one.

It's not an agenda. I praised Winks after the Liverpool game. That was against a make shift midfield but he was outstanding and hardly put a foot wrong.
Yesturday he had more bad moments than good. It's that simple. You're agenda of defending him is greater than my so called one.

Winks may have had a couple of half decent games, but seriously, if Spurs are really to progress, they need players several levels up on Winks.

Winks has lowered expectations so far he's grate now. Same with Dier. He was a £60m midfielder at one point, now we're happy he's not a disaster at CB. Nice guys or whatever but form is temporary, class is permanent.
