What seems to make most sense is to play over one leg instead of two - with all respect, it is just a tin pot cup. Even the FA Cup is played over one leg!

Couple of things with that.

The other tie is already going ahead over two legs, so has to be equivalent.

Also the tv rights have already been sold, so the EFL won’t want to give that up. Due to it featuring two top teams including Liverpool the advertisements will have already been sold at a premium.

There’s no way it will only be one leg due to those considerations.

The article is trash anyway. Yeah we played the kids against Villa, because we HAD to. They couldn't find another date to play it. However this time they have, undoubtedly aided by the gap in between the semis and the final.

Well everyone is getting Omicron now and so if that is what the players have got then they will be immune from further cases of Omicron for a while.
