Liverpool’s title hopes have dwindled massively, as a return of no wins in their last three Premier League (PL) matches (D2, L1) has left Jürgen Klopp’s men needing to make up a double-digit gap on league leaders Manchester City. Most recently, a goalless first-leg draw in the EFL Cup semi-final (against ten-man Arsenal) showed that the hosts are sorely missing the goal threat usually provided by their departed AFCON stars.
On a better note for the ‘Reds’, they own the last remaining undefeated home record in the league (W6, D3), after only letting in six PL home goals all campaign. This is also the first time they’ll be hosting Brentford in a PL game, and intriguingly, Liverpool have only lost one of the last 17 matches when hosting a team at Anfield for the first time in the PL (W11, D5).
Brentford will look to their 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture as a confidence booster, given they were pummelled 4-1 last time out by Southampton in a poor showing, although they still enjoy a comfortable margin between themselves and the relegation spots.
Even so, the ‘Bees’ will be buzzing to get back into the top half of the table, but hitting the road has been a chore for Brentford recently, as they’ve gone winless in their last six PL road games (D2, L4), while conceding at least twice on each occasion.
Players to watch: Salah and Mané’s absence will see Liverpool place more impetus on Diogo Jota, who has scored eight of his ten PL goals this season before half-time. Meanwhile Brentford’s Ivan Toney has scored four of his five domestic goals this season away from home.
Hot stat: Brentford have conceded the first goal in 12 of their last 13 PL matches.

Ox has been our most available midfielder and it possibly out for a few weeks now.

Very good win that and a good one to go to. Much better all round performance than Thursday, midfield was considerably improved. Important win that keeps us clear of the top 4 dogfight.

Releiving win.
One more league game until salah is likely back and in the end its about fitness and drive in midfield as well so any sort of old win next time put gains us time to get it all together.

Enjoyed the game . Boys played well and Matip excellent . Pitch was a bit of a mess and brentford fans were poor - few booted out for fighting , not sure what was going on
Good result

brentford really looked like a championship side TBH. Its a must win and was won.
IMO the only thing we can do now is say same 11 v arsenal and v palace if ox can manage it.
Klopp described this as blowing off cobwebs after all the disruption so getting the same team playing is a good first step. the more games for trent for example after the debacle v arsenal the better
