MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
Leeds have picked up seven points from the past three Premier League meetings, two more than they had in the previous nine top-flight encounters.
Newcastle have not lost consecutive league games at Elland Road since a run of three between 1970 and 1972.
A seventh Premier League win for Newcastle at Elland Road would be the joint most by a visiting side against Leeds, alongside Liverpool.
Leeds United
Leeds are unbeaten in all six league matches this season against teams who went into the weekend below them in the table.
They are aiming to win their first three league games of a year for the first time since 1973 under Don Revie.
Leeds have used eight teenagers in the Premier League this season, second only to Middlesbrough's 10 in 2005-06.
Raphinha could become the first Leeds player to score in three consecutive league appearances against Newcastle since Albert Johanneson in October 1967.
Jack Harrison has scored four goals in his last two league matches for Leeds, one more than he managed in his previous 32 games.
Newcastle United
Newcastle have won just one of their 22 matches in all competitions this season.
The only one of the last 12 sides to have a solitary victory from their opening 20 top-flight games in a season and survive relegation was West Brom in 2004-05.
The Magpies have scored first in 10 league fixtures this season but have only gone on to win one of them (D6, L3). That 10% win ratio is the lowest by any side in a Premier League season when scoring first.
Their tally of 21 points dropped from winning positions this season is the most in the division.
Newcastle's average ball possession of 39% is the lowest in the Premier League so far this campaign.
On paper this should be a Home Win with a clean sheet, but as we all know we don't play on paper
My prediction is a 3-1 Home Win with Jack increasing his tally and Raph and Dallas getting the others, Probably Wood getting one for them just to spite us

Not our day. Newcastle defended very well and the players we had on the pitch today couldn't break them down.
I have to say and it is not hindsight that when I saw Rodrigo was starting ahead of Bate who I think deserved to keep his place, I felt we would not have the same balance and control that we did last week.
Without Foreshaw I thought Bielsa would have wanted Bate in the middle hastling and biting at the heals of the Newcastle players which is what I felt we missed today.
Anyway it is still in our own hands and with the break coming up we can regroup and get key players back.

Needs to give Geldhart more game time or invest in another striker. Roberts not good enough up front and James is a winger.

All starting with Roberts losing the ball twice in 5 seconds which led to the free kick. Simple as that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not as simple as that really. Still took a stupid unnecessary foul from llorente and a terrible goal keeping blunder.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Llórente shouldn’t have even been out in that position in the first place. Roberts’ errors are far too many, and almost every time he takes to the pitch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
??? Llorente shouldn’t be picking up an attacking run. He should have been there and he should have known there was cover and the ball was over/run. He committed himself needlessly.
Whatever you think of Roberts, and he offered nothing today, strikers give the ball away in the opposition half trying through balls all the time, every game. It shouldn’t lead directly to a goal without further more serious mistakes. Which is what happened here. Terrible keeping, stupid needless foul, attacker giving the ball away. In that order.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
terrible keeping?
wtfayoa?
he misses a strike that is blocked by 2 players offside
4 world class saves
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s an excellent young goalkeeper who’s been brilliant for us. All keepers make mistakes. He made one for the goal and another shortly afterwards that nearly cost us. And made some good saves either side of it.
Mitigating factor for the goal that he thought the attackers might get a touch? Sure but it still went straight through him. If that was kiko or wiedwald or bpf they’d get slaughtered for it.

But I’m not talking about Llorente. I’m now talking specifically about Roberts’ role in the key event here….The fact is, Roberts gives the ball away on far too many occasions. For example, play back all his touches and just compare them say to those of Geldhardt. For each time Geldhardt loses the ball, he also creates a decent attacking move. More often than not, Roberts doesn’t create any opportunity to score, loses possession, and like today, usually far too easily. It’s clutching at straws trying to focus on the defensive error. He’s a nice guy who simply isn’t good enough. Yes, opinion is split among us, and that’s no crime, but Roberts fans seem to rarely give a break down of specific attacking moves he is directly responsible for initiating, as opposed to ending!

Harrison on the right doesn't work an Raph on the left doesn't work. What is the point?

Last three games I expected 6/7 points. We got 6 but what a bonus West Ham could have been.
Not at the races ip front today but overall we played well. Just poor decisions at crucial times. Plus their goal was do soft.
These things happen…and my lucky shirt is sheet!

No probs with criticism of Roberts - he offered nothing today. It just wasn’t the major factor in the goal for me. Joffy’s head down play gave the ball away plenty in his 10 minutes today… but didn’t lead to goals.
Just a crap day and we’re all a bit p*ssed off

Yep we are all feeling crap but these things happen. We’ve had two tough away games and this should have been an easy win on paper. However we know nothing can be taken for granted in this league.
I thought we did well keeping St and Wood quiet. Just a shame we were off the boil.
I thought Raphinha made some great runs to the by line but his cut backs never found a player. I thought he also had a few opportunities to unleash a shot but took that extra touch.
Good to see Bielsa admitting they were wrong to swap wings - Jack and Raph. We never looked the same when they did that. Strange decision really.
