Thankfully some poor finishing by Palace, absolutely shocking defending at times. Out high line is now the laughing stock of world football.

Some of you lot here! That is a soft soft pen. Jota clearly realises he doesn't have the ball so kicks it on with no chance of rescuing it and runs into the keeper clearly looking for contact. Don't get me wrong, guaita doesn't cover himself in glory but that's the soft sort of pen they said about cutting out this season and had it happened at the start when they were hot on the "new rules" it would never be given. I would be furious if it had gone against us and so would everyone else here.

Palace are a completely different team under Viera, they're very good on the ball, great to watch, we got away with one today but need that bit of luck 😉

PV is doing a great job and the football is 100% more enjoyable than under Roy.
That said, Roy kept us 'here' despite many constraints and i'll always be grateful for his time with us.............despite the football being throat-slitting at times

I don't think it was a pen. Jota moved into the keeper as much as the keeper moved into him

The keeper didn't even know where the ball wasz he wasn't looking at the ball. The ball was already behind him when he actively chose to go towards Jota.

You're talking out your arsenal. The keeper moved forward it Jota also moved towards him. Never a pen.

Jota was cute, but I'd be livid if that was given against us

I have to say it was a shocking penalty.

If a ref gave that I'd be upset and expect var to overturn it on the basis that jota sought contact after losing ball.

The fact the ref didn't give it and var then convinced him to look and when he did he actually gave it is really a wtf moment.

Yes the keeper is clumsy but jota has chosen not to strike and has kicked ball away then moved to the keeper. It's so obvious in slow motion that he was playing for the pen.


Anyway... importantly we were saved by alisson and even though the same var ignored an offside firmino going for a header we were at least 2-1 up and palace didn't score the 2nd.

Palace have to kick themselves for missing 4 glorious chances
