International break

Whilst I’m not usually a fan of international breaks I have taken the opportunity to take my two sons to watch Wrexham play this weekend.
It occurred to me that in non pandemic times, how much do lower and non league teams benefit from the Premier League teams not playing? I wonder how much attendance is up?

Anybody else attend lower league games when United don’t play? If so, who? How do you find the experience compared to following United?

From United not playing I doubt it would make much difference to the lower league teams as they mostly play at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon when we very rarely play.

I don't think that would matter too much. Most people wouldn't go to 2 live footy games on the weekend anyway. But if United aren't playing they might go watch someone else.

True, but I was thinking more of when there are no PL matches due to international breaks. I wonder what the attendance is like on those occasions.

Elvis

I was thinking more in line with those United armchair fans among us really.

Two mates in England go to Accrington on those occasions. I used to watch a pub team sometimes. It was good fun, but not football as I've come think of it.

Dartford always get more - mainly from West Ham, Millwall and Charlton match goers. I know a fair few who go to Dartford one week and their other team the next, if fixtures are kind to them.

Imagine a lot of London clubs do well during inter break, Manchester also.

Certainly more laughs, but no singing. What was good is that the pitch was about 50 yards from the pub, everyone got changed there, and of course had a few pints and pies or sarnies after.
It was a good afternoon.

I’ve watched Notts County occasionally; it’s obviously much more affordable and the football is awful but its within walking distance of home and you bump into the odd person you know.

Went away to Sheffield Utd about 10 years ago and was able to buy a ticket the day before from Meadow Lane, never been able to get a United away ticket despite trying, even my friend who’s had a season ticket for nearly 30 years can’t get one for an away match.

Kind of like United these days. Well, without the fun.
