Greenwoods 36 hours in police custody is up come 04:00 so by then we should have an indication of just how bad this could be for him.
They could request to detain him longer, but he is hardly likely to re offend or abscond given his profile.
I suspect he will be released on police / conditional bail whilst further enquiries are made.
Anyone see it going differently?,

Whilst I will continue to reserve judgement for now, things are really beginning to stack up against him now.
The extended police custody
Police referring to a victim receiving specialist support
His teammates unfollowing him on social media
Nike dropping him
The withdrawal of his merchandise
I truly hope it’s all a horrible misunderstanding.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wonder how long the extended police custody is?

They can apply for either 36 hours or 96 hours if you are suspected of a serious crime. I would assume that they have applied for 96 hours, otherwise we would be hearing that he has left custody by now.
If you are suspected of terrorism then it is 14 days.

Apparently his Mrs complained about the abuse to Ole last year and the club was aware of it. Allegedly, Greenwood has played 30 games since the club received the complaint against him. Will reflect terribly on the club if that turns out to be true.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why the fack would she have complained to Ole rather than to the police, or at a stretch to the man’s actual employer, about domestic abuse?
How the fack would that even have happened?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought that myself and nearly commented similar to yourself, Then thought better of it. Having never been in such a situation/relationship, it is hard to comment. Victims of domestic abuse do often retain a loyalty to their abused and she might have felt that speaking to Ole/the club was away of improving her situation/getting Mason help, without getting him in trouble with the police.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, I get that.
I just wonder why she’d have gone to Ole and not the club - to management, HR, one of the player liaisons, etc.

She is a young lass who I believe has a pretty rough background. She likely wouldn't have a clue about the structure of the club and the right channels. Or maybe thought Ole is a nice bloke and has the clout to change Mason. Or it could all just be a load of rubbish.

Stinks of bollox to me.
Surely 0.25 seconds into that conversation, Ole tells her he can’t discuss such things with her and points her directly to the relevant person(s) based on club policy. (I’d expect that to be HR.)
