for goals ! (phew)
========
Manchester United midfielder Anderson has set himself a 10-goal target for the season.
Famously, it took the 23-year-old 78 appearances to bag his first United goal. He only got one more in the next 17 months.
Now, he is on something of a hot-streak.
Anderson's header in Saturday's 2-0 win over Norwich at Old Trafford was his fifth in 11 appearances and helped preserve United's narrow advantage over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
"One particular aim is to score at least 10 goals," said the former Porto star.
"I am going to try my very best to score more."
With Paul Scholes now retired and watching from the stands, Anderson has been asked to play a major role for United by manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
He has now started nine of United's 11 games in all competitions this season and feels he is benefiting from the increased exposure.
"You can say it is my best start because I have never played five or six games consecutively at the beginning of the season," he said.
"It's been great to stay in the side and help make a big contribution.
"I feel like this is my time now. I have trained well, looked after myself and the boss has given me a chance. It is important that I take it and show everyone why I am here."
Anderson had been a subdued presence up to his crucial intervention yesterday.

What has this got to do with Andy Carroll or punching Suarez?
Nothing as far as I can see, making it off-topic for this board!

he only played 18 times for Porto and has been at United for 4 years and played nearly100 games. Does that make him still famous for been an an ex Porto star?

He has looked after himself? Imagine how big he'd be if he had let himself go.

Elvis, not always as simple as that though is it?
Fr example people can be fit as a fiddle and always stay a certain weight and never being able to shed X amount of body fat..
Rooney hasnt got the body of ronaldo but he is most probably the player in the squad with the best fitness.

Anderson isn't fat, he's just got a huge butt. His torso is pretty lean. Kind of like Trevor Sinclair who used to play at West Ham.
I'm pleased with him so far this season. 2 goals already, if he adds some more consistency (which I believe he will), he'll be an asset to us this season

Im sorry but I think that people make excuses for Ando. Dont think that this is an attack on the lad as I do like him and think that he is having a good season so far. I have in the past put forwards my opinion that he deserved to be given a chance in an attacking role and now he has been given more freedom his performances have improved. However, I do think that he is overweight.
You mention Rooney - but I am of the opinion that Rooney has also been overweight for quite a few years. It hasnt really mattered too much as he is very talented - but I think that some of his pace was lost due to the fact he was carrying a few pounds. He seems to have addressed that following the contract rubbish last season and I believe he is now more capable of beating a man for it - as he used to be. I think having the pre-season this year has helped also.
As for Anderson - anyone with a double chin tends to be overweight. He has obviously had the injuries which havent helped, but he is still carrying too much weight in my opinion. The fact that he starts to fade after about an hour also tells me that he is carrying too much. If he can get rid of some of it then he wont have to exert as much energy getting round the pitch and his stamina should improve.
