MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
Aston Villa have won only three of the past 15 league meetings (D6, L6).
Leeds, who triumphed 3-0 at Villa Park last season, can earn three consecutive away league wins against Villa for the first time.
Aston Villa
They have taken 16 points from 10 league matches under Steven Gerrard (W5, D1, L4).
However, only the three promoted sides have lost more games this season than the 11 by Villa.
Aston Villa are one of three teams to have scored in all of their Premier League home fixtures this season, alongside Liverpool and West Ham.
Philippe Coutinho can become the first player to score in both of his first two Villa Premier League home appearances since Carlton Cole in August 2004.
Leeds United
This is Leeds' 4,000th league match. The last four teams to reach this milestone as a Premier League side have lost their 4000th game.
They have lost four of their past six Premier League games.
Leeds are vying to win consecutive league away fixtures for the first time this season.
The Whites have only conceded once in open play in three Premier League games in 2022.
Marcelo Bielsa's side have conceded 20 goals in their last seven league matches, as many as in their first 14 of the season.
Raphinha has been directly involved in 25 goals in 49 Premier League appearances, scoring 14 goals and setting up 11.
Villa don't have the best record against us BUT Gerrard has got them believing in themselves and playing quite well while we have yet to achieve any consistency due to our horrendous injury list, hopefully we can grind this one out as we did at West Ham so I'm going for my trusty 1-2 scoreline with Raph and Firpo netting for us

Great performance. Absolutely solid team effort.
Raph was out of sorts but that understandable.
James & Struijk were immense. Klich rock solid.

I would bring Forshaw in for Koch next game. Purely because they play 3-4-3 and so Koch W would be marking Van De Beek or Gomez (whoever starts) and who will be playing quite deep. Forshaw better suited to being that high up the pitch.

Joffy will not get a look in if DJ can play like that more often.

Possibly true but good for Leeds if James can carry on like he did tonight. I'm confident Gelhardt has a big future at Leeds and he seems motivated to succeed here and will be benefitting from Bielsa's guidance.
Hopefully he gets some useful game time off the bench and all being well as soon as we reach the 40point mark he may even get another first team start before the end of the season.

I would have settled for a point all day long.
We showed some class tonight and until they equalised we were by far the better team.
Then at 1-3 down we dug in and made a game of it.
OK a couple were off the boil but that’s life.
What a game for the neutral though!

Me too. But the way the lads did it felt more like a win.

James was superb. When Bamord is back, him, Raph & Harrison will be a serious force.
We desperatly need Phillips back, because we can't keep defending like that, they got in behind for fun.

Having said that - looking at the stats and how much possession we had, far far more passes and more shots, etc - plus they have only won one in the last six now - I think we should have been looking at a win here.
Still happy with the way we played apart from letting the little fella get the better of us for 10 minutes.

Credit where it is due . I thought the ref had a good game last night. A rarity to be able to say that but he did well.

Tend to agree with that. He got the big decisions correct I think, but was suckered into giving a few fouls at times.
