It's ok to kick your pets

As long as you apologise for your action, and your manager is happy to select you and the incident is brushed under the carpet.

If this was Spurs, they would interview Zouma on the incident. 100% sure of that.

As it is West Ham. the Beeb only mentioned the incident in passing. All you get is this

"The Hammers have "unreservedly condemned" the France defender after a video emerged of him kicking his pet cat across the floor and slapping it in the face.

Zouma has apologised and the club have said they will deal with the matter internally."

Yes he has apologised. Good enough. That will do.

I doubt they would even punish him. Disgraceful club.

Not least the manager, who has no backbones, and picked the player fully knowing the cruelty of kicking the cat across the floor.

One of those sad days in football. Even if certain people want to brush this under the carpet quickly.

Very sad day. How long before this player kicks his members of family or the public and injures someone.

I know they are considered to be different criminal acts on different levels but consider the following:

Leicester fan invades the pitch and takes a swing at several young and fit professional football players (one man vs several).

A professional football player deliberately kicks, slaps, and harasses his small and defenceless cat for fun.

Leicester fan is immediately arrested and charged with assault and will face court. Most likely will lose his job if he had one and possibly lose his liberty for a short while. Has been banned from his club for life.

West Ham player so far has stayed in his team and apparently an apoplogy is good enough for his manager. May end up paying a fine to charity that will hardly dent his pocket. Most likely to keep his job and most likely to get his pets returned eventually. Police not interested.

I'm not saying Zouma should get the same treatment as the Leicester fan but this is what is wrong with society and celebrity endorsement.

What if the Leicester fan had immediately stated his sincere apologies, Police left him alone, and Leicester allowed him to attend their next match?

Lets wait and see what happens to Zouma before making this comparison.

You watch those dodgy owners (is that tart Brady still involved too?) jump quick now and suspend the player with a huge fine to be paid to RSPCA to try and fan the flames

It’s still disgusting that something is only done when money is pulled from them (if they do do anything that is but I’m sure they will)

Umbro will up their sponsorship funds to cover the costs. They've been advocates for kicking animals for a long time:

It's all despicable even more so that Moyes underplayed the seriousness of the situation by playing Zouma yesterday, and the club didn't suspend him pending investagations.

It all points to club and staff at this vile club were hoping to get away with a cruelty crime, and treat the whole episode as acceptable behaviour?

Disgusting club and manager. Hope all their partners leave them.

Action should have been taken immediately to suspend the player and not allow him to play until this matter was investigated.

Giving to charity is another sign of them no taking this seriously. They think just check money and it will sort itself out.

RSPCA should make a case for the player to be charged with cruelty and a complaint lodged with the bumbling fools, ie the East London Police.

Well done to the West Ham fans who booed last night. Some folks, no matter what is at stakes, do care and it is good to see.
