Thanks to Eunice, we slipped down to ninth, but finally our games in hand, or lack of, are just about aligned. The delayed Bournemouth game could actually work out in our favour, with a congested fixture list and a possible FA Cup continuance then Bournemouth could have confirmed their Automatic spot by the time we play them.
So, onto Preston, my old university stomping ground. What a hole it was, but great memories are just about left in this old head of mine.
Whilst the play-offs continue to be a possibility, the automatic positions will certainly be beyond reach if we lose to Bournemouth.
Over the last ten league games we are:
*Form Table: 6th v 13th
*GF 17 GA 10 v GF 11 v GA 9
*1.9 PPG v 1.4 PPG
Over the last six:
*Forest are W3 D1 L2 Away - GF 8 GA 5
*Preston are W1 D4 L1 @ Home - GF 9 GA 9
The last time we played them, we ran out 3-0 winners:
Samba
Spence Worrall McKenna Lowe
Yates Colback
Johnson Z.Nagel Mighten
Grabban
Thatβs not too dissimilar to our current side, with only Grabban and Samba missing out.
Prediction:
Again optimism is at a high, buoyed by ongoing Johnson contract talks. We should be well rested, with Horvath having extra time to bed in and our players an extra weekends rest (despite the bus / flight).
Prestonβs last home win was the 12th December. A 2-1 win v Barnsley. Even with that shocking statistic, they are only two points behind us with two games in hand. Their away form far better than their recent home form.
After losing 3-2 to Reading at the weekend, despite a spirited fightback, I expect them to go all out against us, then run out of puff, before we finish them off late.
3-1 to Forest.

Having the odd game like this, Cardiff away was another. Just got to bounce back from it and it’s a point gained. Always a struggle without Grabban and we rely on Johnson to do something special
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sadly it’s the inconsistency once again
Although a point isn’t disastrous, it’s games like this that we really should be winning if we’re. Gonna make those playoffs
Heart says we could still do it…head says inthink we’ll fall just short
But considering where we were after 6 games, it’s a success
However, the prospect of losing had out starting 11 in the summer is a huge worry

Johnson contributed nothing tonight, possibly our worst player, he hardly looked interested, that said everyone is entitled to an off game occasionally.

Preston played a high tempo pressing game and didn't seem to tire in the last 15 minutes, we did.

One thing we have that’s a positive - the teams above us all have to play each still - they’ll be points dropped there one way or the other - we just need to turn these draws into wins

I think it’s inconsistency because we are not really good enough. We don’t have anything from the bench really. I think we are a good team and Cooper has really improved us. But I don’t think we have enough good players to get us much better than we are. We could sneak playoffs but i suspect we will fall short as that is what happens with this team when the pressure is on. We win a few to get into a decent position and then when we need to push on or consolidate, we don’t have enough. We should have beaten Stoke after going ahead despite playing badly. We definitely have fight though as we often get back into games. We just do t have the quality to do much better than that.
To get better we would need to spend more money really. We will sell Brennan and we need to really invest that well in the summer. We need more quality as we too often waste good opportunities going forward. It will be a tough summer if we don’t go up for sure.
Fingers crossed we can somehow sneak it. If we get Grabban back for last 8 games or so that will help

Another Derby loss.
If an in-form Reading (A) can beat Blackpool
AND
If an in-form Luton (H) can beat Derby....
...that makes it an 11-point gap to Reading.
Game over I feel.

Not quite game over - Derby have proved they could still get themselves out of their mess, but they’re not making easy for themselves - I would so love them to be relegated - hopefully with 4 points being the difference - the 4 points we took off them πππ
