Does this annoy anyone else?
Bielsa has been managing Leeds since 2018 I think, but still does interviews with a translator. I remember being equally annoyed with the reports that Tevez couldn’t be bothered learning English when he was at United, and the same goes for Bale not learning Spanish properly when going out there.
For me it’s not only disrespectful to the culture of the place you’re plying your trade, but it also means connecting with the fans is more difficult.

Managers and players not learning English

Find this article funny given how us Brits are notorious for not learning languages. I’d imagine someone like Bielsa is already fluent in at least 2.

Learning a language isn't easy for everyone. Footballers get in the neck L,R and C for being none to clever but expect them to pick up a new language.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i would expect them to pick up a new language given how much down time they have. If they wanted, they could easily put aside a couple of hours a day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Even if they did it doesnt mean they are going to pick it up.

I have lived in a few countries around the world and the Brits couldn't learn the lingo after a few years living there. Whether it was German, French or Spanish they didn't or couldn't learn the language.

I'm a Leeds fan and feel out of touch with Bielsa. Doesn't speak English but he also speaks in crypitc riddles instead of straight answers (usually about injuries) I used to listen to all pre match interviews of former managers, Bielsa is pretty much the only one I've not followed, yet, he got us promoted unlike all the rest. Priorities and all that 👍

How do people here know whether or not Bielsa talks a bit of English when with his players/staff?..
The media is completely different to talking with people you know, I've been here sinse 82, out off the Army sinse 87, and I sometimes still get things wrong, but around people I know its a case off taking the crap and getting on with it!..
Getting it wrong with the media then the Internet takes the crap, and that as many know can be a worst hell!..
For Bielsa its a case of better safe than sorry!..

Brits are the worst for this. At the same time Brits back home moan the most about foreigners not learning English.

I have a mental picture of Rees-Mogg giving a 0-3 down half time changing room pep talk
