LUTON TOWN v DERBY COUNTY...Championship # 34

3.00pm Kenilworth Road, Luton, Saturday 26th Feb 2022

FECK the EFL

These kids and old timers are starting to feel the pace of all these games. I take nothing away from them for Wednesday's performance but Millwall were just too well drilled. We're ARE going to lose some but, again, to lose two careless goals was galling. All I can say is:

"Keep fighting, leave nothing on the pitch, we re-group, rationalise and go again. I’m so proud of my club - we all have a visceral connection with Derby County - don’t lose it".

Some strange decisions on Wednesday by a strange ref - you could almost see champagne corks popping in a thought bubble above his head - when we went 2-0 down - might be me but is the standard of refereeing seriously getting worse or am I just biased?

Nothing to say really, except it's another 'must win' but whilst I'm being phlegmatic, I am sort of slipping back into the realms of the 'awful'.

Are we going to have a take-over announced? What is the hold up? Still think we have a case in the long term to sue the ar5e off the EFL who have made more rule/law changes which will favour those that may be in 'our situation' this season and now forbids EFL clubs form suing other clubs......strange one that....

Yet another club will get its highest attendance of their season.......boy, are they going to miss our away fans when we've gone....

BTW, Heb are you still in a storm? We missed you on Wednesday night.

First XI: Allsop Byrne Davies Cashin Forsyth Buchanan Knight Bielik Bird Morrison Kazim

Subs: Roos, Thompson, Ebosele, Sibley, Ebiowei, Plange, Stearman

Just an observation picked up on Twitter but Shinniehas been on the bench for Wigan for 5 call consecutive games.
Surely?

Unreal that, it’s not like Wigan are pulling up any trees, wheels off more like.

From the Sun (for what it's worth:

"DERBY are heading for a major row with the EFL about their survival plan — casting a cloud over NEXT season.

Administrators Quantuma hope to pick a bidder to purchase Wayne Rooney’s club before meeting the EFL on Tuesday to get the go-ahead to finish the season.

Wayne Rooney's Derby side could be hit with another 15-point deduction next season even if they drop down to League One

But the size of the offers from parties interested in the Championship strugglers is raising new concerns.

The Rams may only be able to offer less than the standard 25p in the pound to creditors — then plead that this is the only way they can survive.

If this is rejected, then Derby will be hit with a further 15-POINT penalty next season whether they are in the Championship or League One.

Under the plan, football creditors — such as Arsenal — will be paid in full for transfer fees.

The taxman may have to settle for the minimum 25 per cent amount on their bill that is running close to £28million.

HMRC might need to accept that because the alternative is liquidation and the loss of future tax revenue.

However, the EFL demands that other parties should get the same — and Quantuma will have to find a way round that.

The deal will also protect MSD UK Holdings, the American financiers who have a charge on the club and the stadium.

They have about £25m invested but that will stay in the club via the stadium.

Former owner Mel Morris will remain as the Derby landlord, with the team playing at his ground and the new owners sorting out a lease that suits him and secures payment of the MSD ‘mortgage’.

But if the EFL rejects the proposal, Derby — already suffering a 21-point deduction — will face a further penalty that handicaps boss Rooney’s side for the second year running."

It never ends!

Sort of pales into insignificance with the events in Ukraine though.

Morning after view :

Well I'm still struggling to get my head round the fact that the cavalier attitude to running our club by the former owner has left it in the state that it is, he walks away and the fans are left to carry the can. Somehow the EFL seem to think that's fair....

Yesterday's game just illustrated how poor this league currently is. Luton a top 6 team ??? Yes, sour grapes, yes I'm galled that we lost yet again to a bunch of muscular hoof ball merchants. That's not to criticise our team because we understand what's happened - and that they are fighting whole heartedly for the future of our club.
The EFL must be rubbing their hands in glee...

There was nothing to choose between the 2 teams yesterday and yet again we lose. Personally I thought we played well. Granted we didn't create too much - but did we deserve to lose ??

1. Goalie. Allsop. A good display. Our number one.

2. Defence. Byrne, Curtis, Cash, Fozzie & Buchanan. Started to struggle a little in the 2nd half as Luton put on the Goliaths. That said I think Luton created what, 2/3 chances during the whole game ? I think Cashin is playing well but I'd have thought that there would have been a run out for Stearman once the Giants came on.

3. Midfield. Bielik, Bird & JK38. I thought they did ok. but flagged a little 2nd half. Some good moments from Bird and Krystian looked a little more like his old self. We miss Shinnie though (sadly)

4. Forwards. CKR & Morrison. CKR was our MOM - he linked the forward line to the midfield and flanks and played a real CF role. Did well to last the 90 mins after his lay off. Morrison had some good moments 1st half but faded 2nd and I was surprised he wasn't subbed.

5. Subs. Festy, Ploz and Ebiowei. Festy got involved but ran into too many blind alleys. Ploz and Eb no real impact.

So all in all a sad day for me. I hate to get beaten by such teams....but the Championship is unfortunately made up of many like them. UTR

Winning side, settled midfield?

It's possibly like when Thorne left on loan to Luton and couldn't break into their midfield due to the form of that side.

Just a thought, could you get Putin to attack the EFL

Meltdown in West Yorkshire this morning.

Another great summary Terry!

Well as Cashin is doing (fantastic really) I do feel Stearman should be there somewhere in defence esp for the likes of Cardiff who I assume are still big bruisers. CKR was amazing given his lengthy lay-off. In fact I think it was perhaps his best performance in a Derby shirt so far. If he can maintain that hold-up play PLUS putting himself about as he did he will be a tremendous asset for the run-in.
