If the UK get attacked in any way then the US (plus others but that's pretty irrelevant) get involved and then Russia are screwed. The US spend more on their military than the other top ten combined or something. They can literally take anyone on in a full face to face confrontation. Russia and Putin know that's never going to end well for them.

While he may come across as mad ultimately Putin is in it for the power and there's no power in having your country decimated by a nuclear onslaught from the rest of the world. There's no point being a corrupt dictator if you're personal billions become meaningless over night.

Russia have 6257 nuclear hypersonic weapons which are stationed in Siberia and near Europe. The US have 5000.
One press on the button and we are all gone.
I don't think the US are dumb enough to take those risks.
The only solution is peace or a treaty whereby Ukraine will be a neutral state.

I think it all depends on what happens post Ukraine - will he go to Moldova etc. If he goes for a NATO country then we all get dragged in.

However, apart from smaller tactical nuclear strikes, I can’t see Putin ever been mad enough to use full nuclear weapons - I also think his own side would take him out before it came to that.

The other elephant in the room is China - the US doubled their military presence in Taiwan in 2021. China aren’t showing the prem this weekend due to the shows of support to the Ukrainian people. Quite frankly, the Chinese are a far bigger deal than the Russians these days.

Finally you have the North Koreans with a 26 million strong peoples army. America having a big presence in Japan and South Korea doesn’t help the minds of these other paranoid leaders.

All in, I don’t think it will come to it, but this arguably the closest we have come to a full war since the 80’s

It’s not gonna come to that. Putin has a long-term goal for Russia and he knows nato involvement would be the end of him, that’s why he’s making these daft threats.

It doesn’t help if you’re on UK news websites where the focus will be on us 24/7. The whole world is responding.

My advice would be to relax, focus on a good book/film, your job, hobbies, getting out and about and you’ll feel loads better. Try and disconnect from the news, it is obviously all going to be negative at the moment. This will likely run and run for months before certain negotiations are reached.
