Forest v Reading - Match Thread

As the cup heroics take a back seat for a couple of games, we welcome Reading and QPR at home.

Reading are in the bottom half of the league and the league form table.

QPR are currently 5th, but have slipped into the bottom half of the form table...which got me thinking...of some good old statistics...

Of the 12 league games remaining we play:

5 teams in the bottom half of the league and form table (Reading - H, Birmingham - H, West Brom - H, Peterborough - A and Hull - A)

2 teams in the bottom half of the league and top half of the form table (Blackpool - A and Swansea - H)

2 teams in the top half of the league and bottom half of the form table (QPR - H and Coventry - H)

3 teams in the top half of the league and form table (Bournemouth and Fulham @ season end, plus Luton over Easter - all Away!!!)

As you can see, I saved the scariest part until last, but 5 teams in form and only 3 of those in the top half sounds a lot better.

Win our game in hand against Reading and that’s two points out of the play-offs, win against QPR and we go into 6th with the same games played.

Of course Cooper and ourselves must take one game at a time, but the above gave me hope that we might just make these play-offs.

Anyway, onto Reading:

Over the last ten league games we are:

*Form Table: 8th v 23rd
*GF 14 GA 7 v GF 12 GA 23
*1.8 PPG v 0.7 PPG

Over the last six:

*Forest are W4 D1 L1 @ Home - GF 11 GA 5
*Reading are W1 D1 L4 Away - GF 6 GA 14

Everything points to a home win, but this is Forest and we have a habit of blowing great opportunities!

Reading are of course fighting for their lives.

Since moving to Reading, Lucas Joao is almost one in two and has six goals in 13...Swift has 11 goals and 13 assists!!Definitely the two to keep quiet then!!

Swift out of contract in the summer and Joao with just a year left. Could both be options in the summer, depending on where we end up.

No stories about Reading this time. Away trips or visits. Just good old fashioned statistics and hope.

Forest to win 3-1 (I might get it right one week).

COYR!!

Losing Cook and Lowe is bad news

Two bad injuries in a game is unlucky, but every side gets injuries.

Our subs did us proud for the 4th goal, so let's hope we can cover for Lowe and Cook.

I don't have a problem with Figs coming into a back three. Before Cook came, he was very comfortable playing alongside Worrall and McKenna. It's a back four that he's rubbish at.

We can cover for Cook by playing 4 at back but Colback not a natural LB. We struggled last time Lowe was injured as he creates a proper balance

That's a worry. Why did we sign Laryea if he's back in Canada?

Why is he back in Canada? He was on the bench on Monday.

That’s been an odd signing and he’s not made an appearance yet has he?

Maybe he’ll now get his chance on Wednesday - I’d love to see what he can offer….or not

No, but most of that time he was away on international duty with Canada. He had to come over, get know his team-mates and get to know how the manager wants to play him. It takes time but I'm sure he will come good.
