Chelsea Fans

I will not dwell on the reasons behind the sanctions as others have been raising it in other posts.

I just want commiserate with the Chelsea fan base, this was not of your making and yet you are the ones who will be punished ultimately.
Whatever the rivalry that lies between clubs, especially London based ones, I think it is not a time for anyone to gloat over what potentially could be catastrophic for CFC.

They have enjoyed unparalleled success under Abramovich’s ownership, we now move into the realm of the unknown and potentially some major consequences for the club.

I would urge Chelsea fans to keep their spirits up, hope that things turn out okay for the “new" setup going forward. Because it is definitely going to have its impact on not only how the club is run, but also on who will buy it. Certainly the money that was being (3bn) asked will not even be anywhere near half that amount.
What I cannot understand though, why close the Chelsea shop, any sales going forward could be monitored and then put into escrow, this could also apply to ticket sales.

I will most likely get trolled by some on here, but I am a football lover and also put fairness and humanity before hatred every time.

Whilst the fans have benefitted from the club being owned by Abramovich, they are not the perpetrators of either the purchase of the club, nor are they to blame for the owners closeness to a madman.

I ask supporters to aim their comments at Abramovich and not the Chelsea fans, the vast majority of whom are football loving decent people.

Biggish the Club these days are self-perpetuating and able to ride these things out. In 1983 you couldn’t have give this Club away and yet now you only have to look just how many potential suitors are lining up to try to buy us from all around the globe.

100% 83 was far worse than this . Appreciate the post GG though like some have mentioned blue or otherwise we will be fine. It will be a new era but for most that won't matter.

I think people forget In 80s that Ken had opportunities to buy the ground but could not raise the money

He’s painted as a hero but if he had raised the funds to buy the ground, the club would not have been held back a decade

One of the most generous and decent posts seen on this site OP , I applaud you.

We move on , new owner, new era. Hope abounds...all good .

I am left with aslightly bitter taste , I do not know if others share this feeling, that this evacuation of the club owner was performed on "deep suspicion", "rumours of ties..." "supposed associations due to activities in the past that lead one to believe".
In other words the man, RA, is guilty by association. He has won all the libel cases he has taken to his accusers . No evidence has been presented of actual guilt . The government "may have" some inside information...but they are not sharing it with us ....why I wonder?
As a sanctioned person is he even permitted to defend himself against more slander and lies being directed at him?
It appears the defendant is PRESUMED GUILTY unless he can prove otherwise. Guilty by presumption is the name of the game.
Like other Chelsea fans I'm happy to move on and take your suggestion to hope for the best.
Leaving RA under the bus , accepting that things are what they are does not sit comfortably with me. Neither is the notion that the war in Ukraine is a far bigger issue ( So true) ....then we might have to sacrifice certain individuals as inconsequential to the bigger picture. Happy with that are we?
As things stand atm ... An owner of a football club was removed based on supposition, rumour, innuendo and circumstantial evidence. That's fine move on... Tomorrow is another day and who is the new sanctionee named then?

I suggest you read the UKgov's sanction report on him. Was utterly damning.

Especially Evraz PLC. Which RA has a "significant shareholding" and he
exercises effective control" And it's support/involvement of the Ukraine invasion.

I think suspicion is enough in this instance, given the stakes. For example under Anti Money Laundering law suspicion without evidence is enough to thoroughly investigate, and i think suspcion that money is going to Putin merits sanctions

The only bit i don't agree with is preventing the club from conitnuing to generate revenue. Surelt it is possible to prevent funds being taken out of Chelsea without having to cut of vital revenue streams.

But bigger picture, i would rather be safe in North Essex with my club about to go bankrupt than be in any major Ukraine city right now
