If Masi done his job correctly, and let lapped cars pass on lap 56, instead of the opposite...all lapped cars would have passed the safety car, the safety car would have came in at the end of lap 57, and what happened on lap 58 would still have happened

Lewis and Bono discussed this very scenario and you could hear Hamilton $hiting himself at the prospect of Verstappen being right behind him with fresh tires

It was Masi not getting the lapped cars out of the way that stopped that from happening.....something he then reversed when he realised he should have done it on lap 56

Id love to hear the arguments if the final racing lap had went ahead with all the lapped cars still in place behind Hamilton...that of course, which very very very rarely happens, would obviously been alright if it meant Hamilton won the title

Masi has been facked off and the rules changed. That tells the whole story. They exploited a loop hole and now its been sealed.

the procedure was to allow lapped cars to pass if permitted to do so AFTER the incident on track has been cleared up. by the end of lap 56 and beginning of lap 57 that wasnt the case. Rather than following the rules (that had been followed all season) of ANY car that is lapped unlapping themselves ..not "some" and as we have seen this year the FIA have re-worded the rule to make sure that this doesnt happen again. there was not enough time to let all the cars pass through on lap 57 so Masi decided to do something that hasnt been done before and only allow the drivers between lewis and Max to pass.

Masi did his job so correctly that he is now looking for a new one after being sacked from that role and the rules changed to ensure the same thing doesnt happen again.

What they should have done or do in future, is have a 5 lap sprint race between the deadlocked drivers. Both on softs, do your worst.

The man was sacked literally because he didn't hand the title to Hamilton, and people still claim there's bias against Hamilton?

It's like when Trump sacked everyone studying global warming to prove there's no global warming.

Yet another post that doesn't actually recognise the mistake that was made

Latifi crashed on lap 53

Verstappen pitted on lap 53, when Hamilton couldn't

Lap 56, The instruction that lapped cars could not overtake was issued by Masi, as he didn't think there would be enough time to resume the race under a green flag

Masi then realises that there was enough time to get the lapped cars out the way...as if they had overtaken on lap 56, the safety car could have came in at the end of lap 57, and we would still have had the final racing lap

Almost everybody fails to acknowledge this...the decision not to allow lapped cars to overtake, which in almost every other scenario is the done thing...that was the mistake, and it was detrimental to Verstappen, not Hamilton

To remedy that, Masi did what he did

Had Masi done his job correctly, Hamilton would not have been robbed of anything, he would of lost the title in exactly the same manner
