I have no enthusiasm for writing a useful introduction to this match.
I read that Fleetwood have not won in 6, but who can make a case for a Rovers win? So I am not going to try.
The news of the failure to get key players back to fitness on schedule is normally something a keen supporter might label unlucky. But it seems symptomatic of a club whose infrastructure is crumbling under the leadership of a CEO who I now see as the key man at the club who has seriously and serially failed.
GM is doing his best with players who do not seem to care and seem unworthy to represent the club. Some are exceptions to this, but I feel alienated by the lack of effort visible from the majority.
2--0 to Fleetwood.

Quote from the Editor of the fanzine who was there today. Not entirely sure what we’ve just watched to be honest. It’s like no-one told the players the importance of the game. Ninety minutes of poor decisions and low intelligence where no-one seemed to want the ball and looked genuinely perplexed if it ended up at their feet "

A neutral watching the game and not knowing where the teams were in the league would have easily guessed both were fighting relegation.
For about three minutes I thought Rovers showed some real intent, but it did not last.

Listening to the observations on tactics and movement by Copps in commentary, it was plain that so many of them do not have footballing brains suitable for this level. They do not seem to understand where they should be on the pitch when they are mounting an attack, which space to move into to enable the greatest advantage to accrue as the move develops. They don’t read the game.
You notice too that some players are more likely to win the ball, regain possession - like Barlow for example. He is mentioned far more than a lot of others. He is active. So many are content to just let the game come to them. The irony is that Wellens made it clear that he was never a player he liked. And yet Wellens himself was the same sort as Barlow in that he had a great desire to win the ball. (I am not suggesting Barlow is another Wellens, but when I have seen him he does work much harder than most.)

Nookie foresaw 0-0 and was right, but opted for 1-1 as his forecast, but he draws ever closer to Mooli together with Selby, but no one can be happy. I am having difficulty keeping the faith with these players.

I think I got the result right. If I'd stuck to my original thoughts it would have been a full house again! It's no joy predicting these days.

Yes Nookie, but I put it on the wrong line against Selby as a further demonstration of the truth that there are an infinite number of ways of getting things wrong.

I thought as much. Thanks. Even though Rovers performances are dire, its a pleasure to read your pre and post match analyses. Plus your efforts on admin of our prediction league.

The fickle fan will label any loss as “rubbish” whereas the devoted fan will find an excuse. Glen Wilson epitomises the caring, loyal long-term supporter. His opinion of the team that represents us currently, is now surely shared by practically all of us who have been there with them all these years. They dishonour the club; I don’t like the majority of them because they just won’t put themselves out and it is apparent every time you see most of them.
If you advertised for loyal supporters to sign up for the club for the rest of the season and put the majority of the so-called players on gardening leave, we would at least see some effort put into the game.
Baldwin has superintended all this - last season’s surrender, Wellens appointment, the failure to sack him when it was obvious he and everyone he put in post was useless - and he should be fired. I don’t blame GM; there were no foundations on which to build.

You can get 33 - 1 odds on Rovers avoiding relegation. Even I think that's not worth a punt.
