Like I've said, I'm not worried at this point. Maybe if the new owners don't support the academy properly it will dry up in 5 years or more, but why wouldn't they? It's a money spinner as it stands, without question.

So nothing will change? You talk as if having Roman didn't have any extra benefits or perks. I thought Roman was the bestest owner football has ever seen so surely losing him must leave Chelsea in a somewhat worse position than they were under him, don't you think?

I think you're misinterpreting what it was that made Abramovich a great owner. In terms of quality decision making City owners are better, probably even your owners are better (though when Klopp leaves that'll be properly tested). But there was an undefinable personal touch to Abramovich that's quite rare in football ownership these days.

There was always this weird balance with him that darted between being a ruthless operator, particularly with managers, but equally someone who'd sign Shevchenko & Torres because he liked them & who cares about money - the same way a fan would think

My biggest fear with different owners, especially with a consortium, is we'll become just like everyone us. We'll make safe, rational decisions without any sense of spontaneity or drama. Boring.

I’m sure you’d love to be taken over by a Saudi group with deep pockets, but the reality is… that’s not gonna happen, nor is it even a possibility.

The only people interested in buying London’s 2nd biggest team are 2nd-rate consortiums with limited funds. It’ll probably be that British guy, who’s a Chelsea fan, who’s a pauper by the standards of ball club owners.

Chelsea won’t be able to complete at the top level with the type of owners they’ll have.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting to sound a bit desperate now. We've had 20 different bidders offering a combined tens of billions of pounds to buy our club. All those supporters of other clubs praying for us to fold are sweating now.

In the meantime we carry on playing, carry on winning. And whoever we get will have a strong incentive to drive our commercial income up, which we've never had to be worried about before with Abramovic.

We're going to come out of this in a better position from a FFP perspective. And I'm sure we'll have plenty of cash to keep competing for the big talents when we need to.

And all the salt and bitters in the world won't make this taste any better to you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You make some good points but can't help but feel like you're saying what you hope will happen instead of stating facts. Too early to tell how Chelsea will be affected by this.

An owner that doesn't put a dime of their own money into the club is already a step back for Chelsea though. From there they'll have to work smart like Liverpool instead of buying their way out of trouble into success.

We’ve been balancing the books most seasons in recent times and won titles on net spends and have been in the top 6 or 7 for revenue in Europe for the past 25 years even before Roman

So we can compete at top level on revenue alone

We shall see in a couple of years or so.

You are making it very clear you're trying to start an argument, rather than have a discussion, but I'll bite.

If you look at the last few years, we been spending a lot less money in the transfer market. There are 9 teams that have spent more than us net over the last 5 years. Yet if you look at the squad, it's a fairly young one.

So we've leant on Abramovic a LOT in the early years, and as we've built up the club to where we are today. But in recent years we've needed him less. So another owner will make less of a difference even if they are almost inevitably less generous towards us than Roman was.

When I say I'm not worried, I'm comparing it to the apocalyptic pronouncements of the fans of other teams. The sky isn't going to fall, and we're not suddenly stop being competitive. And if it makes us push for more commercial income, and tightens our belts on spending on squad players we can get from the academy, that will help too.

This we won our last title on net spend

I like this extract from one of the bidders, it reflects my thinking on the club where we have been recently and where I expect us to be moving forward. If true it addresses some of the negative projections of our prospects moving forward though most are driven more through wishful thinking of bitter rivals rather than any practical thinking. Please note I don't regard all rival fans as bitter, even those amongst the same fan bases.

There are plenty of very successful clubs financed by international investors but in this case after two decades of exceptional success by the club, the club has the fanbase with the resources to support the club to maintain that success. That's what's very unique about this proposal.

Further info on the source of said proposal are attached in the link. It
