Has anybody noticed the amount of whinging supporters on here lately?apparently the club and its manager are the most honest and whiter than white entities to have ever existed in the history of football, every other club are the spawn of satan and tap up every spurs player while the angelic thfc and harry del boy redknapp NEVER EVER EVER EVER do anything untowards

I (along with 99.999999% of the posters on here) have know idea if SAF is using the press to unsettle Modric or whether the press themselves started the rumour.
However what I (along with 99.999999% of the posters on here) do know is there is no such thing as a player not being for sale, that is a fantasy. If Modric says he wishes to leave and a large bid comes in, then in the end Spurs will have their hand forced and WILL sell. The same is true of any player at any club (look at Ronaldo). If Spurs fans think that Levy will keep a player who wishes to leave and will be putting in below par performances while his value goes down they are living in cloud cukoo land.

They seem to be winding themselves up about something that isn't happening, they're angry about Sir Alex tapping up Modric, with no proof whatsoever.
Very strange.

Oh and Harry has a history of letting the press know how much he "admires" other teams players, of course all managers do this on occasion, but as the O.P said for some reason Spurs think they are angels.

On another thread a spud fan was moaning that fergie praised modric and was trying to unsettle him. I remember that many times redknapp has praised Rooney calling him a great player, so I don't see the difference. The spuds just want to complain about anything

City will offer 20mill + Bell(end)emy + brown paper bag full of notes = Modric a City player.

Moaning and whining is politeness, tapping up and unleashing a media campaign to unsettle a player is quite commonplace.
Its just noteworthy Utd's transfer policy is as ruthless as Real Madrid's. Utd sources leak to journalists details about who SAF wants to buy, and so begins a fanatical press campaign based on half-truths and lies about the player in question. All with the intention of making a the potential seller and player believe the current situation is untenable. Modric said he was happy at Spurs. These 'I don't know whats going to happen' quotes are the direct result of five weeks of a solid press campaign to unsettle the player, on behalf of Utd. Of course he doesn't know, pro-Utd journalists have spent 5 solid weeks telling him he's going to be sold.
We should not forget this is a club which goes to places like Italy and offers the families of young children a small fortune to pull their kids out of the youth systems of the clubs which made them. Even big clubs like Inter are targeted, because the law doesn't allow clubs to pay huge salaries to children.
They are absolutely ruthless, so its a good thing is someone were to stand up to them.
