VAR - GENUINELY

I’ll start off by saying, this isn’t sour grapes by any means - I think Liverpool on the whole were the better team and deserved to progress in the tournament I am however, extremely proud of the way NFFC conducted itself on and off the pitch yesterday - it was a great footballing spectacle IMO

However, my team encountered VAR for the first time, and many of us Forest supporters are questioning the integrity of it

At first glance, it was impossible to call whether Liverpool’s goal was onside or offside. The TV replay first showed clearly that Jota was offside, the 3 replays before VAR’s decision came through also confirmed he was offside, the pundits were absolutely certain it was offside and were saying with supreme confidence that it would be ruled out

However, when VAR then shows us its findings, the red lines show Jota onside?

It begs the question, how can we be sure that the images the people in the VAR office are providing are totally plausible and haven’t been tampered with?

Seriously, there seemed to be 2 lots of images shown on TV, the ones showing Jota in an offside position, then one’s coming back from VAR with some red lines showing him onside - who draws these lines and how can we be certain they aren’t being tampered with by the powers that be in order to manipulate the facts?

If VAR loses its integrity, then surely the time will come when it will be finished with - the game can’t continue in this way if we don’t even trust the technology

Personally, I’d like to go back the possibility of human error, and the referee and linesman making the call - at least that gave us supporters the opportunity for questionable decisions to be debated and discussed after the games - and for me that was part and parcel of the ‘beautiful game’

Here’s hoping it won’t be too long before we grace the Premiership once again, it’s been far too long

There is no conspiracy, there is plenty of incompetence that we have seen with refs in our league games and to be honest with VAR I can take it better than the useless prats we have had recently!

The positive spin ……

Our fixture list is crazy busy until now and end of season, if we had of lost another weekend to the FA cup the only way we could have made up the game would have been to play Tues and Thurs in same week!

Actually all this has done us a favour, genuinely proud of our club and happy we have space to crack on with remaining 10 games

Yeah, I definitely agree how some games had VAR and some didn’t especially in the same round of the competition - that’s really strange and seems unfair for all the clubs involved

Some clubs have more decent pitches, some better crowds. Is what it is, just a variable that allows more correct decisions than before. Sure there's a small cost but hey ho. Never understood the fans that would rather have wrong decisions so they can argue the to55 about them for decades after.

Also, not really one for wishing Liverpool luck as don’t care a great deal who actually wins the PL or CL.

But I would say, I can’t help but have massive respect for Klopp and his team, way they approach games and achievements they have already and of course what’s coming! It is a privilege to watch this all unfolding.

I'm not sure what commentary you were listening to but on ITV he called it inside immediately because he could see the VAR lines being drawn.

However, I do wish they'd just draw it from the feet. Done.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The commentary I was listening to said he was offside. Then they disputed the decision during and after the game.

Admittedly, it was Paramount+ / TenPlay in Australia!

However, the English and Scottish commentators waxed lyrical about Liverpool throughout the game, so had no reason to call out what they saw and draw a sheety line on the screen.

Liverpool deserved the win. It wasn’t a penalty, but if VAR uses 28 cameras and angles and mics etc...then let’s see it in detail.

Drawing it from the feet ends the controversy.

If it can’t be decided for a goal then maybe just have a penalty?

Anyway, no hard feelings. Just calling what I saw and heard.

Drawing it from feet solves nothing - it just changes the point of controversy when there's a marginal call whatever part of the body is chosen.

What a waste of your life - it's not exactly like there isn't lots of other useless sh.t to argue about.

You are debating and discussing questionable decisions after the game right now. VAR has not taken that away from you.

The only valid complain re VAR is interfering with flow of play. All others that I've seen are just caused by people being afraid to think and natural human opposition to changes.

Why?

It would be unfair if they used VAR for one team and not the other team playing the same match. As it is now a contest between two teams was decided with or without VAR and so long as its the same for both the teams playing a single game then its not unfair
