More Just Stop Oil Protests

https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/tottenham-west-ham-football-protesters-tie-themselves-goalpost/

These protestors like to tie themselves to goalposts in protest.
There was also one at Everton v Newcastle

Just Stop Oil is a coalition of groups demanding the no-brainer things be done immediately – actions that will reduce the demand for fossil fuel energy dramatically such as insulating our homes, rethinking how we travel, getting on with renewable energy and making sure no-one is left behind."

I asume they walked to the stadium from whetever they live and did not drive or go on a train or bus.

Surely there are better ways than tying themselves to goalposts and annoying people who have paid good money to watch a game of football

At least Spurs have no need to heat their trophy room

Yeah it doesn’t really matter if our 17 major honours - none of them bought with funny money are warm or not

Aircon on all the time though to keep the dust away.

They're not asking for the train or bus to cease operating, are they?

So its not really hypocritical if they rode the train, bus or even drove there.

The thing with many protests is this is all the power they (we) really have to make change. The super wealthy, powerful and government have the ability to action changes. And regarding how people get to work, a game, whatever, most have no real choice, it's much easier for higher wealth individuals to live a lower impact life as ridiculous as that sounds given the reality.

It may be incredibly annoying to be caught in a traffic jam or have a football match interrupted. However in the case of things like climate inaction right now we're drifting serenely toward the edge of a very big cliff and the people with the power to stop it are generally doing fack all, the bare minimum or simply cooking the books.

Good on them I say, direct action takes guts and any further awareness they can create is welcomed.

I love how people think us all moving to EVs is the answer.

It isn't, not without drastically ramping up supply of electricity. There are 32 million cars in the UK and only around 390,000 of those are electric.

If we increase that percentage of electric cars to 10%, where is the power coming from to charge them all?

The way it's happening now, a slow transition from ICE to electric cars, is how it needs to happen.

Maybe. But you're talking about it now. All the people on this forum are thinking about it. There's not a much better way of reaching the working class in England than through football. See all the betting ads.
