Having watched the second half of the Wales game last night, I saw 45 minutes of what James is about. Lots of energy, very nippy over a short distance but his first touch is appalling, he blazes high or wide or shoots straight at the keeper when he has the opportunity to do better and he fails to see other players around him with better openings. He was also caught offside on a couple of occasions.
Lad needs work if he's ever going to be close to the money we paid for him.

Probably why Man Utd got rid of him. Body working at 100mph, brain at hospital zone speed. Trying too hard or over-confident? Something to prove as a top-flight reject? At his age he should be more composed on the ball.

He's a likeable player although we did drastically overspend. Can't fault his workrate and effort. Would like to see us play to his strengths a bit more often.

That was a shocking display by him. He’s the Welsh Walcott.

Wales played how I imagined we should have in February, backs to the wall defending with James as the outlet. I only caught the second half as well, and James had a few chances to kill the game…fortunately it didn’t cost them!

I really appreciate Dan James effort (and blazing speed).
But, against Austria he showed once again he has the first tough of an elephant. And his shooting isn't good.
We really need to invest in a true goal scorer who can
play the 9 position. Especially with Bamford's poor
injury track record. Hoping JM does not persist with
James in the middle.
