Best teenage footballer

Fowler was managed by Roy Evans who was very attacking. He had Redknapp and Barnes in central midfield. When Owen bursted we were playing a very defensive formation under Houlier.

That was set up completely around him.

Fowler had three 30+ goal seasons on the bounce as teenager. Owen got nowhere near that.

Wrong actually, Owen scored more as a teenager. Fowler only had 1 season of scoring 30+ as a teen and that was when there were 42 games.

All comps bud although tbf he was 20 in the third season.

First four seasons:

Fowler: 18, 31, 36, 31
Owen, 1, 23, 23, 12

Owen was great. Very fast and insanely good shot selection and finishing.

Fowler was simply a better baller though.

Uuuurgh I am wrong! Just actually checked it and for some reason thought Fowler was 17 in 93. Tnf I am woefully hung over and have managed to wake up with my mates initials hand poked tattooed on my rib cage and he's not a tattoo artist. Hes6just some bloke and it looks sh!t.

Anyway Fowler was a better footballer which is why he formed partnership with everyone he played with bar, ironically Owen (not that they played together too much) whilst Michael had to have his partners work for him like Heskey.

To be fair I first thought Fowler had a lot longer being a free-scoring teenager until a quick check on Wiki shows he was actually later to the party. He was arguably more talented than Owen as a youngster though. Owen was more consistent.

You think for a second, Revelino was gonna take on the whole Italian side for that 4th goal.
But boy, what a goal that is.
Will always love how Pele receives the ball, and just calmly lays it off… too sweet!
