I suppose it would be similar to the Zidane incident. Headbutt to the chest/slap across the face in a high profile event....he got a fine and a 3 match ban for it, or at least would have done had he not been retired

If you mean Joe Public, well the Zidane example was pretty big news all over the world. It depends on how high profile the game is but a World Cup final seems like a good equivalent to the Oscars ceremony.

Yeah it was big news but no one really cared, not with the reaction that smith got.

When it's big in America and it's football related then you know it must be big.
