Derby County 1 - 0 Preston North End

DERBY COUNTY v PRESTON NORTH END.....Championship # 40

Saturday 1500 Pride Park, Derby Saturday 2nd April 2022

FECK the EFL

Well, that's it. In the two weeks since last played, the take over has been done and dusted, Quantuma have packed their bags and laptops and teabags to leave PP and we're all happy. What a feeling of relief for The Faithful, so now we can move on, maybe in League 1 but hey! we have a club and thats all that matters.

Well, it could have been, sounds feasible doesn't it but the angst goes on. FFS we don't even know who to blame . The carousel of blame has gone from Uncle Mel to the EFL to Miske Ashley to Quantuma back to Mel and Mike and back to Quantuma

Ravel is not playing this game - he's only just got home from his WC exploits. I think someone may be suspended due to s but I don't know who - fill in the gaps yourselves.

Thinking about it, we have been treated pretty shabbily. But the apathy or naivety (yes, including me) from The Faithful has been maybe a little short of convincing Quantuma and Mel and the EFL to actually sort it out. I'm all for Vidal's thinking - we did it v Birmingham, but maybe it's too late. The die is cast and maybe we need to think the inevitable - liquidation and a whole new name. Sorry

First XI: Allsop, Byrne, Bird, Lawrence (C), Buchanan, Ebiowei, Davies, Ebosele, Knight, Cashin, Plange.

Subs: Roos, Forsyth, Bielik, Morrison, Stearman, Sibley, Cybulski.

Bad day for Cardiff.

They could still go down, but highly unlikely.

Cheers Jorv - it was a bit of a blur from my end 👍

A well-deserved win overall. We created all of the chances really. Bird was daft to give the ref a chance to even it up but we adapted well to going 10 vs 10 and Rooney got the subs spot on. No outstanding performances but all were decent enough. Maybe Byrne would have been my man of the match. Cashin was very solid again.

It was less euphoric at the end than in recent wins which reflects our situation, but again great credit to everyone for producing the goods when behind the scenes is such an utter crapshow.

If we can get our away form anything like our home form for the last games, we might have a sniff?

It's a very big if tho.

Morning after view :

Well, I think 1 0 just about summed it up. It was close and the Preston goalie was the busier of the 2 but until Morrison came on I felt we had plenty of shots but none that really threateneed. That said I cant remember Allsop having a shot to save.

It's a simple fact that we have to win the rest of the games now and yesterday was a good start. For me I thought we seemed to lack a bit of belief though yesterday....until Morrison came on. So inspired substitutions I thought.

6 games to go now and all to play for....

1. Goalie. Allsop. Didn't have much to do really. Played more as a sweeper.

2. Defence. Byrne, Curtis, Cash & Buchanan. I dont think there's much wrong with our back line generally. Byrne was terrific today. But all played well.

3. Midfield. Bird & JK38. I thought Knight was the pick of the 2. Midfield though for me is where we're not quite right atm.

4. Forwards. Festy, Lawrence, Plange & Ebiowei. Lawrence the pick of the 4. Bit disappointed in the 2 wide players today. Plange battled away but struggled to make an impact generally.

5. Subs. Morrison, Bielik & Stearman. I wish we'd use Stears more when we're into the game management end of the game. Today we did with effect. Bielik & Morrison were the reason we won. Bielik had more of an influence in Midfield than Bird and Ravel was the spark up front and could have scored 3. What a transformation in him since he's spending more time in and around the opposition penalty area. My MOM today even if he only played 25 mins. He was the reason we got 3 points.
Well done lads. Cheers. Terry....UTR

Terry, according to the BBC stats, we had 12 shots on target, Preston had one.

I was told from another fan who went, that 90% of those efforts however, were not really threatening, which goes with your take on events.

Apparently there is a move to get the council to buy the ground for £20 million and lease it back to the new buyer.
