Morning all
I’m not even being facetious when I claim that getting top 4 is actually quite easy.
United have been utterly dreadful from September onwards. Pogba and Cavani have missed long spells with injury, we’ve lost Greenwood to that situation and Ronaldo has missed a lot of games, as well as having an interim manager and yet we’re only just out of the mix in my opinion.
Spurs couldn’t win 2 games in a row for months, their main striker couldn’t hit a barn door before December and their new manager has been whining for months, and yet they’re well in the mix.
Arsenal lost their first 3 games I think and although they’ve picked up, they aren’t a great side.
Even Chelsea who are very comfortable have been average at best all season.
My point is, with some stability and a new manager, this should be a given going forward. Unless other teams suddenly turn into prime Barca it really isn’t that hard.
How easy is top 4?

Shaw world class
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is world class
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He really isn't. He's good. Which isn't bad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes he is world class. Look at him for the last few years, nobody has been better. Lost a bit of confidence this season but he still is world class.

Luke Shaw scored what was essentially the winning goal in the Euros final (if it was not for Italy's cheating which followed). That is more than even Messi/Ronaldo have done. He is the definition of world class playing for the biggest club in the world and the best national team in the world.

Apart from
Robertson , chillwell , cresswell , Tierney , Mitchell are all better players and have been last 2 seasons (when not injured)
You really are a lost soul if you think Shaw is better than Robertson ?

Fergie dealt with huge egos - Keane, Beckham, Cantona, Ronaldo etc

Tbf, Keane and Becks were two of the hardest working players on the pitch and Ronaldo has always been one of the hardest workers off the field.

Yeah but Keane constantly has a face like a slapped erse and moans more than he breathes.
Becks was a show pony that Fergie had to throw a boot at to sort out.
Ronaldo is worth the drama and seems to have got on well with most at the clubs he has been at. But I bet his ego is bloody massive

But ego is not the issue. I'm pretty sure most pros that play at the top clubs have massive egos. The issue is their attitude and how they apply themselves.
Becks and Keane, despite the flaws that you mentioned, were never questions for their professionalism and application. Pogba, Lingard, Sancho, Greenwood, Shaw etc. on the other hand...

The standard of the top 4 has been poor for a while. Only City and Liverpool are worthy of being compared with the better sides of years gone by. If Conte stays at Spurs and is backed I’d imagine they will be a very good top 4 side next season and Chelsea are probably a couple of tweaks here and there from making the step up to challenging for the league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wrote the same thing about only City and Liverpool making top 4 this year but the author deleted my comment!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
tbf their benches could probably take 3rd and 4th.

Couldn’t agree more OP. Chelsea have been playing with alonso and Werner most the season and are comfortably third. Shows the gulf in class between the so called big 6 and the rest. If we can lose our best 3 players this year to injury and still be third then god knows what other teams are playing at

De Gea, Varane, Bruno, Ronaldo, Sancho, Pogba, Cavani are world class players
--------------------------
Ronaldo, Pogba and cavani are all not world class players... in fact none of the players you listed are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would happily take all of those at Spurs. If you had got Conte when we did then you would be 3rd in my opinion.
Prime Fergie would have breezed the league with that lot also.
You guys were second last season ahead of this excellent Liverpool side, you have just had a collectively woeful season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
stop wumming strike. fergies a great manager but the best he could do with this lot is third or maybe even fourth. last year liverpool were decimated by injuries.
