Doncaster Rovers v Bolton Wanderers

Happy Easter and Good Friday football to start it. 4 to go and Doncaster away. Not a lot to play for for Bolton except for pride. Doncaster 2nd bottom and 5 points plus gd from safety are desperate for points but they are there for a good reason. Bolton unbeaten in 4 including 3 hard fought for 1-1 draws against 3 of the top sides. Team news. Out for the season Sheehan, isgrove, Fossey, Lee, Santos. Tutte back training but will he have time to make an appearance or earn a new contract? Dempsey close to being fit but unlikely to be fit today. According to bwfc website John and afolayan have been passed fit for today. Bodvarsson was mentioned as struggling for fitness early in the week but no update and Bakayoko is fasting so I don't expect him to play the full 90. Kick off 3pm.

Mathematically we can't get in the play offs now

No, but we need to win our last three games.

Sorry, I was awol but my neighbour asked me to watch the game with him.

As for not being able to get into the playoffs, I think we all knew that three games ago.

However, we have next season to look forward to. Three or four decent signings might make the difference.

I think it's the first time the play offs are mathematically out of the question even though we knew we were out of the running. Not bad with 3 games left.

Sunderland are 6th with 76 points and with 4 games left so going to take a ridiculous amount of points just to get in the play offs. As a comparison we got automatic promotion last season with 79.

Benny both you and the Ghost are correct.

The problem we had in both last season and this season is that we had particularly long bad spells.

Last season was easier for us to gain promotion because we were playing against lesser teams and teams at the top of the league were less consistent.

If we hadn't had a prolonged bad run of form before the January window, I reckon that we would have won the league by a country mile,

If we are to get promoted next season, we can't afford to have a sustained bad run.

It's up to Evatt and the technical guys to make sure that we get the right players in before the season starts.

Problem we had at the start of the season was we still had remnants of the players brought in by our disastrous Director of Football that weren't up to the standard of the league we were in.

I do think we are in a better position to retain the majority of the squad whilst adding quality to key areas.

I do think though we need players who can thrive in 2 positions as we've seen sometimes we have to change the system to go on decent runs.
