Pogba

First of all big win today for us especially with Arsenal and Tottenham both losing as well.
Cristiano Ronaldo with his 50th hat trick. Let me write that again ... 50th hat trick!!! I mean the guy is just a freak of nature really. The GOAT indeed

However ... we have to discuss Pogba again im afraid.

Honestly the fact that this club keep getting on their knees and begging this guy to stay year after year while he continues to play like a sunday league amateur footballer is just absolutely mind-boggling to me.
Booed off the pitch as he was subtutited yet again today.
If reports are to be believed , he was apparently offered a new contract by the club again last week for half a million dollars a week
He must have some real nasty dirt on someone at the club methinks ...

Pogba was poor today but

1) He's fasting for Ramadan isn't he?
2) He spent much of the time playing as a *single* pivot in the absence of an elite DM in the squad, and McFred unavailable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Who cares that's his own idiotic choice
2. What? And?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chill on the abuse towards Ramadan, no need for that.

However, I don't think Pogba is the right fit for our club and needs to leave.

I didn't abuse Ramadan, learn to read.

5 goals in the league over three seasons

----------------------------------------------------------------------
yeah, that's definitely how i judge midfielders, solely by their goal output. best not mention assists i suppose, given that he's our leading assister in the league this season - despite having missed half the matches - and has as many this season alone as fred and mctominay have in their entire pl careers, combined.

and he shouldn't need "defending", given that he's one of our players, and one of our best players, but presumably the reason that people do defend him is because some people on here (and elsewhere) are absolutely f@cking fanatical and rabid in their hatred of him. this combic book clown, for instance, 5 of his last 8 articles are designed, either wholly or in part, to have a dig at pogba; and anyone with a spare 6 months should check out se85's contributions to redcafe (nou_camp99), i would think by now he has over 1000 comments in the various pogba threads, and that's even after picking up a ban for being just a bit too weird about the player.

The 18 assists? Over three seasons?

Bruno has 24

Are you actually trying to justify £89m Pogba’s performances by comparing him with Scott McTominay & Fred?

Good lord mate….

I agree with you on ab rabid hatred element. But over his United career, he hasn’t been good enough at all and given the circus that comes with him, he needs to go not get a new bumper deal to make him the highest paid player in the squad.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bruno played as an attacking midfielder and his heat maps show he played on the shoulder of Cavani.

Pogba has played in a double pivot and an ultra defensive Mourinho.

It’s like comparing apples and oranges.

Why mention it in the first place?

I didn't. Someone else did. If he chooses to give his body nutrition because of some sky fairy nonsense that's his business but it's not an excuse in that case for a poor performance.

I remember Paul putting on some stellar performances for Juve whilst observing Ramadan. He did it on occasions for Utd too.

Fasting is not the cause as long as he takes in the right nutritiets & calories required for a pro athlete, which he probably does.

Fasting shifts the time of day is one is allowed to eat, he consumes the same calories as before. Only difference is he can't consume water as and when he needs it. Whether that impacts his performance pre and post endurance I have no idea, I am not a sports scientist.

Would it impact me as a unfit layperson, yes. Would it impact an ultra fit pro? Who knows.

Paul's performances have been questioned throughout the season so it has to be something else, fasting is not the reason.

I agree. He's just not particularly good. That's been evident over his 6 years at utd.

For me the damning indictment is he has not delivered to the level we all hoped and wished he would. His performance stats may suggest otherwise but I expected more for £89m.

Is that Paul's fault though?

Paul is the signing one marks when you have a solid team, he's the icing on the cake. We have the icing but no cake!

Perhaps true. But there could of been a lot more effort along the way from him.

He'll leave as utd failure. And tbh these should of been the 6 best years of his career in terms of his fitness etc. There's huge regret on both sides. We should never of bought him. He should never of come.

We've failed him and he's failed to deliver as a result is a good compromise.
