Been obvious for years, just have to listen to what his dad has said. Always wanted City, was whether or not they wanted him.

Would they have gone for him if they got Kane?

Signing Kane was an impossible task, knowing who they have to deal with and contract length.
City realistically knew they were never going to meet the exorbitant demands for Kane.
They were simply probing.
Haaland was always the goal.
Which makes sense...being 7 years his junior and long-term.
Haaland being very young (basically still a baby) and already accomplished at European elite level will make it so much easier for Pep to mould him into an even more formidable machine.
