I thought Liverpool were better than us today.

I thought we were the better team in the Carebu Final though which in my view was a better quality game.

Horrible to lose on pens again but what can you do.

Agreed, close games, but we lost both and three FA finals on the trot, so am devastated.

Quite strange really, you’d look at the Chelsea forward options and it’s strong - Lukaku, Havertz, Ziyech, Pulisic, Werner, CHO (when not injured) and Mount chipping in from a deeper position. There should be plenty of goals there. There’s certainly plenty of options.

You’ve scored plenty in the league as well. But I’ve read plenty of comments from Chelsea fans about needing more goals. In one sense I get it, not sure any of those options would make the City or Liverpool team. Perhaps you have the opposite of Liverpool’s problem 3 years ago - we had quality and no depth, you certainly have the depth so perhaps it’s about quality?

Chelsea, for me, we’re the better side. They nullified, with relative ease, our front three, none of whom were firing, or allowed to fire, on all cylinders.

Diaz had many great chances and was extremely unlucky not to score. Also hit the woodwork twice.

Chelsea did well, no doubt, but were in no metric you would care to chose, 'better' than Liverpool.

Over the four encounters my own view is:

Chelsea were marginally the better team at Anfield (even with 10 men)
Chelsea were marginally the better team at SB
Chelsea were marginally the better team in the Carebou Final.
Liverpoll were the better team yesterday.

In all four games either team could have won any of those four games in normal time.

The key fact though is that Liverpool did not lose any of those games to Chelsea and that shows that they have that ability to did deep when needed. Probably down to to a few ket leaders like VVD and Allison.

I did say before the game that if there was any prospect of penalties, Chelsea would be as well to bring the keeper up for set pieces and throw the kitchen sink at it. Liverpool never ever lose penalty shoot outs. It may have invited criticism if Tuchel had just gone gung go when the game was level but in reality it was what he should have done if he wanted any chance of taking the trophy
