For their final game of the season Wolves travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool.

Not really much to say is there? Wolves current form is dire and Liverpool’s is devastating.

One wonders if Jurgen Klopp has made a wager with Pep Guardiola that ‘pool can do better than City’s 5-1 mauling. I wouldn’t be at all surprised.

Thankfully I will probably be in hospital again and won’t have to endure another 90 minutes of embarrassment.

Gem’s prediction: 6-0

You are right DJ, but so is Tino.
The forwards rarely score when they get chances and the midfield rarely make chances. Therefore we need to shake up both areas.

I go along to some degree with your comments Tino that its not just the strikers fault that we don't score goals, we have to look at what we are creating. But in my opinion the main issue is the strikers. We have very good creative players in Neves, Moutinho, Neto, Podence, Traore and more recently Chiquinho but if those players get towards the danger area then see there is only one, or maybe not any, attacker in a scoring position what are they supposed to do. You can't create a scoring chance unless there is someone in a scoring position.

yeah it's swings and round-abouts.... the strikers stop making the runs cos the midfielders dont pick the pass, and the midfielders stop making the pass cos the strikers stop making the runs.

Our system worked best when we were a counter attacking, hit them at pace unit. under Bruno we try to be more possession based but ultimately our build up is slow, so Raul drops deep or pulls wide looking for possession, and then as you say no-ones in the box

that for me is why I think either a freshen up of personnel or formation is most needed, a ball carrying midfielder to just break those lines and leave Raul less isolated centrally is key

I used to love watching Paul Ince particularly in the Championship pick up the ball deep and carry it and everyone else forward with him, if only we could have had him in his prime. Moutinho tried to do that a handful of times this season but nobody went with him.

Paul Ince was a leader at Wolves for sure. On a pre season tour of Norway I was staying in the same hotel as the players in Oslo. On the last night the tradition is that all the players go out. Ince pulled all the players together in the hotel reception at the start of the evening and told them where they were going and how they needed to behave, and there wasn't any chance anyone was going to step out of line

Don't think anyone drove a Wolves team on like Mike Bailey.

It always amazed me with Paul Ince that after after the warm up and as he was walking off the pitch to get ready for the match he would always stop and sign autographs for the young kids in the family enclosure. He would never rush them and would be there for several minutes. Brilliant gesture from a real gent.

Never saw him play for Wolves but have a dvd of old wolves big match highlights and he and Phil. Parks really stand out in those early-mid 70s matches.
