Depp vs Heard

Who's been following/watching bits and pieces of this trial & what are your thoughts?

It's not normally my cup of tea; I've zero interest in celebrity stuff. But I have to admit this court drama is quite engaging (and at times quite hilarious!) and I've found myself watching far, far too many of the clips on YouTube. The YouTube algorithm overlords have been persistently putting these clips front and center of my YT account and I'm afraid to say I've ended up taking the bait! In my defence, surely anything is better than watching United at the moment?

To me Amber Heard comes across absolutely terribly; insincere, slippery, overly dramatic/theatrical juxtaposed with an aloof coldness, and overly elaborate when answering simple questions (a classic trait of lying). Were she a credible character I'd have stopped watching this trial already, but her awfulness is nothing if not engrossing.

But that's just what I think...

god only knows why he made those up.

I'm not sure he did. I think he came across them on social media and was so desperate for them to be real that he didn't actually check them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There’s a few others that do that too, like kfc, though I think he tends to not completely blindly believe Twitter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What's funny is he always asks for sources from people.

The evidence I’ve seen seems to put Heard as the abuser and instigator. Depp seems to be just a mess but an isolated mess who takes himself away from situations rather than create them.

I still dont understand why he lost the UK case against the Sun.

Because it was a different case that was about trying to prove that Depp wasn’t a wife beater. What Heard did was completely irrelevant to the outcome. Today has also shown that she lied under oath at least once in that case.

From what I've read the judge basically took her account as gospel and ignored a load of evidence that undermined it.

You find it hard to believe somebody would want to resurrect their acting career which was making them 50 million a movie?

----------------------------------------------

That's a rather facetious interpretation of my point. Do I find it hard believe someone might want to resurrect their successful career? No, obviously.

But that question in isolation from the specifics of the libel/defamation cases Depp has put himself through is an entirely different one which bears little resemblance to what is and has been happening.

Depp has pursued at enormous cost (including losing vs The Sun) to himself two libel cases, and not just financially. He has opened up his own demons & faults to the entire world; video & photos of himself in unflattering or embarrassing circumstances, audio of himself drunk or in distress or engaged in an intimate conversation that wasn't intended for public consumption, private messages that again, were certainly not intended for the public. His children & family have to see all of this & he himself is known to be a private individual.

So given those circumstances, is it likely all of this is some great ploy to be in big movies again? I don't think so in this case. He's wealthy enough to never have to work a single second ever again, with the risk to both his financial health AND his reputation (and his career of course) being greatly more precarious should he lose this case as well.

Anyone whose seen any video footage of her giving her defence during this trial know she's acting, and acting terribly

Next time she turns to answer to the jury I'm punching her in the face

------

We can both believe what we want. Before this trial he was only able to make low budget movies, because they had kicked him off Pirates and that Harry Potter spin off. To me he had little to lose with this trial, he was already percieved in a negative way, and had little career left to lose. He has potentialy huge amounts financially to gain.

I think getting back to being paid 50 mill a movie, instead of a few hundred thousand, is incentive enough to go through the court process. You don't think so. We don't have to agree on that point.

The face she made after "my dog stepped on a bee" quote has had me cracking up for days.
