Except Madrid won their league and the CL, and Liverpool - cup double. Can't even compare

Madrid have been better than Liverpool this season by winning when it matters.

And Madrid had the toughest route to the final.

The worst possible comment you can hear in world of football is:

"Person X deserved to win competition Y..."

How stupid is a comment like this.
Usually used with Gerrard and Premier League title
Or Buffon and Champions League title.

How did this people deserve to win those competitions of they didn't win them. What should all of us do then, take the medals from actual winners and give them to Gerrard or Buffon?
