Now I am not claiming I have an insight or full understanding of Daniel Levy’s mindset ant plans for THFC.
However, his recent comments have made understanding a bit clearer on his vision for the club.
Firstly, the club needed to be in a strong financial position, then it needed state of the art training facilities. Hotspur Way is a top class facility which many other top clubs have admired and want the same at their clubs. Brazil use it every time the play in Europe, and with a secure hotel on site it is perfect.
After that White Hart Lane needed rebuilding completely. We now have the best stadium in Europe and possibly the World at present. Great views from wherever you sit, fantastic facilities and after the toilets at WHL, these are top class😉
Other teams rave about the ground, saying it is fabulous and the atmosphere and sounds incredible. For those of you who haven’t been yet, I urge you to do so if you can get a ticket, or do the stadium tour.👍
This was all completed and if it hadn’t have been for covid, getting to the next stage might have occurred more quickly, and this pandemic has cost us about 2 years of revenue and progress.
I know some had said we should have stayed at the Lane, but that was totally impractical if the club wished to challenge and compete both in the PL. and on the European stage.
We don’t know what would have happened if the pandemic hadn’t happened, but it did and we are only just seeing signs of the club moving forward under a top class manager.
Funnily enough I was not impressed with any of Poch’s successor’s, however I was prepared to give them all a chance to make me change my mind.
Mourinho never did that, when he was appointed in November 2019, I was hugely disappointed in Levy, as Mourinho always leaves club’s in disarray when he departs.
Nuno was a very strange decision and with the passing of a few games it became obvious that it was not going to end well.
That leads us to Mr Conte, there was no doubt he was a top class manager, but was he a Spurs manager? He also had a reputation for baling out of clubs within a couple of years.
I have been won over by his passion and the edge he has instilled in the team. We are mentally stronger and certainly defensively much better, whilst some of his tactics don’t make for great viewing, he does get results.
If we get the players he wants, then there is no reason why cannot move above Chelsea in the PL, I think usurping either Liverpool or City might be a bridge too far this coming season, but who knows what happens in the future 🤔
My final point goes the posters on here who are too quick to moan, with most of the insults and complaints being made against Daniel Levy.
Whether they agree or not, I think we have an excellent Chairman. One who has been a Spurs supporter for 50+ years and who loves the club as much as we do.
He has got a blueprint in his mind of where he wants the club to be, however I is really only recently that he has opened up on this to the fans.
It is his role to take all the brickbats and he does it without moaning.
Can we not at least recognise what he has achieved and that he only wants what is best for THFC.

Problem with conte is he throws about 2-3 strops a season when things don't go his way, and even with the pros he brings, he rarely stays somewhere long.
He will be perfect to get spurs into top 4 whilst he's there bit I think a domestic cup should be the target. Content doesn't have much pedigree in Europe but he can build a good league side if backed with the $ he wants.
I can see conte laying the foundation before someone else takes spurs up a level. Just can't see conte anywhere long term cos he is so temperamental, and signs short contracts, whilst waiting for the next project.

Levy wants what`s best for ENIC, nobody else.

Clueless. Utterly clueless.

Nobody is denying that Levy has made mistakes, especially on the recruitment set of things. He has admitted he took his eye off the ball.
The appointment of Paratici has been a game changer in my opinion and he has a lot more power when it comes to decisions on player recruitment than anyone has had before him.
He has in my opinion changed the dynamics in terms of the type of player Spurs should be looking at.
No more obscure players from Ligue 1, pulling bargains out of Seri A, a league both he and Conte know inside out. Whilst Romero was not his signing, I think signing Kulu & Bentancur has shown Levy that we can attract top class players.
My understanding is that Paratici & Conte get funds approval from the Board, whenever the source a particular player. They will also have the funds recovered by selling off unwanted players, which if managed properly means there should be a decent amount to play for above and beyond the £150m indicated recently by Levy.
So Winks is valued at £20m with several clubs like Seville, Newcastle etc interested in him. Real Sociadad are interest in taking Gil on loan after his stint at Valencia.
Ajax want Bergwyn which could be another 25-30m.
Reguilon could also be on way back to Madrid which frees up wages as do the others I have mentioned.
We have also got to be mindful of the regulations pertaining to home grown and non home grown players. To add to difficulties in those areas, the PL rules and Uefa’s differ, so someone is going to have to work out who is in what group and who misses out.

Great article - 5*s
For the first time since the final game at WHL I am optimistic about the forthcoming season.
Fantastic manager, great facilities in the training ground and of course the NWHL, a team who have come together after Conte’s appointment and secured 4th spot (ok a hiccup or two on the way but hey this is Spurs!!)
Levy seems to be backing the manager in the transfer market but “plenty a slip betwix cup and lip”
Roll on the new season and COYS!!!!

Great article Genius. I concur with all of your points. Daniel Levy gets a very negative support from lots of our supporters. Very unfairly in my opinion. He is absolutely Spurs through and through.

So you too were disappointed when mourinho was hired?

I was OK with Jose, and he took Spurs to a final.

I said it after we got details of the £150m injection of cash into the transfer that I would rather wait and see who we end up with when the transfer shuts before lavishing praises on Levy.
Levy has done all the right things from a Business point of view, but has done all the wrong things from footballing pov. Until he stumbled on Conte through Paratici.
Let's just wait and see.
Also Bastoni deal, the actual offer is very decent from us and so far, Bastoni wanting to stay is down to him, not because of Levy offer. Can't blame Levy for that.
Said it before and got pilloried for it but I am no taking out the thanks you Levy banner out until the transfer ended and I review them.
Don't forget, under Levy we have hit a barren patch, massive one, on winning trophies. There was a time when Spurs would be in a final or winning a trophy every so often.

Levy has made mistakes for sure. A good manager whoo moved us on and up the table seemed to be followed by a failure. 2 steps forward 1 back each time. BUT as a ST holder through much of ENICs reign I have enjoyed so many moments - Jol Redknapp Poch and now Conte. I've seen some great games some great moments, been to a UCL final and over much of this time the overall trajectory has been up. I have always had an understanding of the financial side of the game so have given Levy slack as the progress is clear against very strong head winds. In their time Chelsea and City have bought their way to the top and that has directly denied opportunities. Many look on with envious eyes at these sugar daddies but I have always accepted that is not what our owners are like and once you male peace with that then understanding the progress made within financial restrictions actually represents a significant achievement.
it has been a long hard process but now we are in a position when much of Levys vision is in place. A game charger is what he called it in the past and with the 150m now put back in to the club it looks like we are really well placed to span the financial gap with Chelsea, may be even Liverpool....and they have shown that the the might of City and Utd can be challenged, although it is still a huge task
Contes presence has added some urgency but even looking beyond his era I think we are now really well set up to be serious contenders at the top end of the table. If we get some genuine success then the sky could be the limit.
Levy is the perfect man to drive us financially off the pitch and so long as those employed to deal with the on pitch stuff do it well then I think we can look forward to an enjoyable era.
