Max is bloody good. Not many could keep in front under pressure like that.

Aston Martin's strategy for Vettel today was something else. Pit him twice in the first 20 laps then never again. Jeenius.
Quite a shame for a few drivers today - HAAS looked good but everything went wrong. Yuki made a good recovery drive until he didn't. Ricciardo was actually having almost a decent weekend but still ended up pointless. That McLaren looks like a different car every race.
At least a decent weekend for Alfa Romeo and Zhou didn't break down.

That's shocking pace for McLaren & Alpha Tauri.
Mercedes appear to have got the car into a competitive window in the race on a bumpy track, bodes well (only one more bumpy street race track in Singapore left).
Smoother tracks coming up should in theory be better for all of McLaren, Alpha Tauri and Mercedes.
Silverstone next, they coming with another truckload of upgrades.

Yeah he had that well under control, damn

Yeah Sainz just never really looked like overtaking Max. Was probably a bit of both in terms of how good Max was and Sainz just lacking that killer instinct. He couldn't quite get close enough before the back straight each time.

Sainz is lacking the confidence, you could tell chasing Max he is the driver who has made quite a few mistakes over the last few races.
he is lacking the guts just now, in comparison Charles pulling of a wonder over take going into the chicane on the outside and attacking that kerb whilst carrying a little too much speed and the angle he came in on.
that was a superb overtake, further enhanced with the troubles that Charles has had on the kerbs that was bravery and confidence in yourself.

Ferrari struggled out of that turn all race, even leclerc had rubbish traction before the long straight, they were faster everywhere else but not at the most important 5secs of the racetrack

Looking at the whole race sainz was not the fastest car. It was still max. Pit stops and SC gave the impression sainz was faster but he wasn't

Sainz is overcompensating.
Unfortunately for him, the reality is that he can't match Charl' inherent ability to wring the car and place it in the right areas to extract optimal laptime over 1 lap and particularly over a racing distance.
Sainz' style is naturally reactive (similar to Bottas), whilst the likes of Charl, Max and Lewis (who are on an entirely different level) are instinctive racers.
(Russell may just join that list soon, with the way he's driving at a top team and adapted seamlessly).
