Goodwood Record Broken.

I like to post interesting EV news, I would post a lot more, but the powers that be seem to think it would be better not to have a section on one of the biggest transitions in a century.

This new electric future offers a whole new world of opportunity. This weekend we saw another EV take the record. It was quite something, and looks almost like it is running in fast forward.

Anyone who hasn't seen this record breaking run, check out the video

I'm guessing that the poor gits that mine the Lithium needed do? Something the 'Green Lobby' choose to ignore.
Lithium is clearly not the future.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
And what poor gits do you think are mining Lithium? As for it being the future, it has a lot going for it, but there are certainly other elements that have potential. But it is no accident Lithium is top of the pile.

I'll be honest bud, i'm shocked that you are asking about the working conditions regarding many of those who are currently mining for Lithium.
This is in no way the future.
Tesla (no, not Elon) showed us the way many years ago. Free energy for all but guess what, those who 'govern us' fooked him off.

The world we live in is divisive.

By all means tell me about the working conditions of those currently mining Lithium. I am well aware of Lithium and how it is mined. But by all means point me to these poor gits you mentioned.

I'll wait.

Admin, I'd like an EV section too please. And Amiga, I enjoy your EV articles. I'd love an EV if

A) I won a large amount of money
and
B) I was no longer WFH and did more than 2.5-3k miles a year now.

thats almost the ideal scenario for owning an EV just now.

one that you dont need to take long journeys on, less can go wrong with them so maintenance is less which is quite a big factor for a vehicle you aint using much.

It depreciate like hell however and not ideal for someone who wont use it as much.

for me the time is not right, the range and charging solutions still need a lot of work for me.

I know EV's seem expensive. But taking into account cheaper running cost and maintenance, EV's are not as expensive as they first seem. I will also point out EV's will soon be cheaper to buy than an equivalent ICE car.

I know a lot of people imagine EV's are still some way off taking over, I can promise you, EV's are literally at the tipping point, and sales are rising rapidly. Soon it will make no sense to buy an ICE car.

Demand for EV's is outstripping supply, and their value actually holds up really well, especially something like a Tesla, which have massive demand.

People often mention charging, with little idea of what it really means. When I first bought my EV, I had charging at home, and very little beyond that. But it didn't matter as I woke up every morning with a full charge.

Since then, The two supermarkets we go to has charging, The Costa down the road from me has had 4 rapid chargers fitted, even where I work is now having 4 chargers added as part of the expansion.

EV's are a brave new world, people are not comfortable with change, But those who drive EV's don't go back to ICE.

My wife didn't want an EV when I first mentioned it, now she would probably divorce me if I tried to go back to ICE.

I have 2 years left with the BMW I have now through work and I'll definitely be getting an EV when it's time to change.

Which is fine if you can afford to buy either a new EV or a new ICE car, but for most people (including me), a brand new car isn't an option so a used car is the only thing they can afford - and an affordable used EV isn't out there as far as I can see.

I agree that the more EV's are on the roads and the more used EV's come to market and become affordable, then a lot of people will make the change. As I say, I'd love one (although I've not been in one yet) but it simply isn't an option for me at the moment.

everyone has their own circumstances. this is your experience, your circumstances.

I dont have a problem with EVs at all, im just saying the time isnt right for me yet. not enough range, charging not quick enough, not the type of car I want yet, too much initial price to buy new, and unknown real world reliability aspects in 2nd hand batteries, to buy used.

When the time comes that all the above improve to a point that is practical to me I will buy one, thats a matter of when not if. However if I was had to buy another car tomorrow for whatever reason to replace my current one, then it would still be an ICE I buy.

Stars what you said is all fair enough. I didn't buy my EV brand new. But as EV's take over, so will availability and affordability. We are at the start of the S curve. basically an exponential growth in sales. Norway has shown how quickly EV's can take over. and the data points to it happening across Europe.

I remember when I first got my EV, It was interesting to people, but still a novelty. Now as more and more EV's hit the streets, Charging infrastructure grows, advertising appearing on TV, and new models appearing, what may once have been dismissed as a novelty, is now very much considered the future.

When I first bought my EV, their future was by no means certain. Now it is without doubt the future on our roads.
